Any other issues then "sticky" carb?
No success stories from anyone with this engine, and a stock carb?
Hard to tune?

I got mine running good with help for someone who knows how to tune a engine. It is the newer carb and does not like anything other than 30%

there is a thread in here about using an OS60L carb on the TT53, and they say that it makes stupid amounts of power for a .50

I must be in the minority, but mine has been great from day one. I'll admit I really only have a few gallons through it (less than 6 for sure) over the last two years, but I have no complaints. I originally got it for my R50, then dropped it into my Velocity last fall. I hardly ever touch the needle.

Mine's the first version, and I flew it for a few months, was always impressed with it, then was really surprised when I read people were having problems. Mine just plain works.

Everything I have read an personally experienced shows that buying a Thunder Tiger motor is a 50/50 chance of getting one that works right out of the box. Mine has the OS carb mod and now works. I fought the stock configuration for 6 months before I did the mod and it was a total waste of time. I would have rather started with an OS 55 or a YS 56. My OS 50 made more power than my stock TT RL53 until I put the OS card on it.

TT53. is not a scrap engine, specialy since TT have supply a new carb.

I have mine since it's on the market, I also run some OS50 Hyper who is

also a very good motor with more milage done then the TT53. Whit the

time, money saving will prove it.

With the new carb or not, the TT RL53 has given many people many headaches (mine had the new carb). If you get a good one, great... If you get a bad one, don't expect to resolve your problems quickly.

I have one of the older RL53 engines with the original carb. Works fine and has the power I need.

Hmm seems like it's a gamble if you get a good or bad one..

Is it that the engine is hard to tune?

What did you have probleme with?

There are plenty of threads about the TT carb issues, plenty of threads about what it takes to fix one and plenty of threads about what a POS the new and the old carbs are. IOW, there are plenty of threads discussing the relative merits and pitfalls of this engine. The gist of it is this; the carb is a nightmare at times but the engine itself is great. If you get one, put an OS carb on it and don't look back.

The most common seems to be the OS 60L carb, but it requires a little machine work

This stuff reminds me of the TOKI 40. Some love it and others were ripped off,.. The carb seems to be the problem and the bottom end delivers when the carb is reiable ,,whatever carb that is.
To bad as OS has the the consistent record for reliable performance...displacement isn't everything when we mortals just want to fly and not want to jerk around with random tolerences that will make us go home cause we can't tune the thing.
Most of us won't notice the difference in displacement anyway as we're just trying to bring the damn thing home in one piece anyway!!
Power isn't the end all for most of us,,,just status or some testosterone related bullpoop. Go with what is proven and reliable cause most of you [and me ] can't use all the power anyway,,,

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them
