Hi All,

I want to fit a header tank to my Vibe 50, but it doesn't seem like there is anywhere to easily mount it keeping the fuel supply inline with the carb needle.

If you have one fitted, how have you mounted yours?

Thanks

Matt

I made a stand off out of an old raptor frame spacer, and drilled a hole in the side frame in front of the tank to mount. Works well.

I had one, but took it off. It works good on the right side abeam of the main tank. I mounted it to one of the screws on the right side tank strap that soft mounts the maintank. It flopped a little so I tie-wrapped it as well. It is pretty much in line with the carb and shouldn't give you any fuel feed issues.

I have 2 Vibe 50s with YS and took them off only because the flight times were too long and the extra weight.

Cheers guys, exactly the information i was after.

I'll try and mount it as per the pictured heli. I have some Raptor frame spacers somewhere.

Now to figure out how to mount one to the Srimok.......

Thanks

I had mounted mine the same as "The Old Guy". Then I moved it to here for a straighter run of the fuel lines. Sorry for the poor picture quality......

For those of you that don't run a header, are you using a bubbleless clunk? ( I don't want to use a fuel magnet ) If so did you use the OS one and machine it down? Or cut a bigger tank hole and use a different nipple/stopper on your Vibe50?
Last, I was planning on running headerless, but then was thinking........I know the bubbless clunk is supposed to keep enough fuel in it that it prevents sucking air if the clunk is out of fuel for a split second. How about in a long vertical dive that might last a full second or two? If the bubbleless clunk is out of fuel that long, I'm sure it will still suck air??? I decided to keep the header on for now.

I'm running a stock setup now and no problems. I've never had an engine quit because of sucking air in a dive. Even in a nose-down tic-toc. There always seems to be enough fuel in the clunk line to run until it is in fuel again.

All 4 of my nitro helis both 50 and 91s are YS powered and there is no need for a header tank. Maybe the other brands do. When I used OS engines they would run rich and lean out as the tank burned down. I used header tanks after and they ran more consistant.

I used a longer 3mm machine screw for the rear tank rubber to mount the upper end of the header bracket there.
