I once had a kid ask those questions at a local park. A little kid. No big deal, I just answered back politely.

Then, this little kid asked if he could fly it. I said no of course.

Then he turned to his mom and said, "Mom, he told me I can't fly his helicopter!"

I just about lost my lunch I was laughing so hard. Kids aren't taught no these days are they!

Saturday morning I flew my helicopter in my pajamas
How it got in my pajamas I'll never know

Luckily my local cops only come out to watch and not to harass!
luckily for me one of the guys we fly with is a sheriff and every other form of law enforcement just thinks its cool.

of course in little st. george utah we fly at the public schools with and without permission all the time.

when one of the hobby shop owners went to get approval to fly at a elementary school the principle met him there on a Saturday morning to see if it would disrupt anything and he watched for a few minutes and simple said "i thought you said they were loud? the lawnmowers are worse than that!"

needless to say its pretty laid back around here

Who cares... its just money...

I had a little kid ask me once to let him fly. when i landed i acted like i was going to hand over the Tx, he looked at me and honesty said " if you just show me how to take off and land i can do it". then i asked him if he any money in case he crashed, he pulled some change out of his pocket
Once a man asked me how much(and i thought here we go again)then he finished with "did it cost for you to learn how to fly like that" i thought that was the best question i have ever been asked. of course i told him i refuse to answer that one

The "Where did you buy that from" is a common one right after the cost and the how high questions.

We had a woman watching at our field one day with her kids for a bit. Then she tells me she wants to get one for her two kids while pointing at my Raptor 90. Finally she asks the cost, let's just say she and her kids were in car driving away about 30sec after I told here.
he looked at me and honesty said " if you just show me how to take off and land i can do it".
I've heard that before too! How funny.

"I'm a dirt torpedo!"

yeah, i mean most people who see you fly are morons. Ever fly in a field then all of a sudden they walk up to the helicopter while its spooling up? Or they just totally ignore you and walk right into its flightpath. Is it that they think its a toy? Then they ask how much as theyre expecting toy prices. im to a point now where i ignore them and get rude. I remember the other day i was hit with all the questions by passer byes so i said "The **** you think this is? Show and tell?" I guess i developed the cop syndrom where they all annoy me, i wasnt like that in the beginning. Its like me going up to a stranger and asking them "how much did you pay for that watch? How much them shoes cost? How fast can you make your car go? Can i drive your car?" One time i wanted to be different and answered a guy "the radio cost $2300 (14mz), the big one cost about $3000 (Stratus), and the smaller one costs about $2000" The freaking guy had a look of surprise on his face and walked away. Why do they want to know how much i paid? Are they looking to get into the hobby or just being nosey! Oh, and i dont advise anyone to tell strangers how much the stuff costs as it sets you up to be robbed. There was a guy that was flying alone in my club last year that said some guys approached him and asked how much the stuff costs then they robbed him! Im 6-7 and 265lbs, i wish someone would try to rob me!

I don't mind being asked questions. I always tell'em I'll answer after I land. But you could try this response next time. LOL!
