Well guys my new Velocity 50 will be here Wednesday. I bought the flybarless head and now I need help deciding which flybarless system to buy. I am new to this FBL stuff so I need someone who's going to help me through this process. I was thinking V-Bar or Total-G. I would like to go with the outrage servos however I have Futaba and don't know if there receiver can handle the 8.4 volts. I want a really good flying BADASS machine!! HELP!!!

No one in my club is flybarless. Is it going to be hard for me to set?

I am really exited about the total G....a receiver, tail gyro, anda flybarless gyro integrated with a governor all in one small package....and it is from Curtis so you know it will be super easy to setup and the best support in the hobby.

Lmao!! Actually your know as the guy that flies the hell of that rave. It was good seeing you back this year. Hope you had a good time. We had some unbelieveable flying this year. You need to come down and fly with us sometimes. I'll take the Total G into consideration even though I know you're biased because it's Curtis. Lmao!!

I know the outrage guys were really digging the Skookum 720. Eric Brandenburg has flown just about every type of flybarless system out there and is pretty critical of many of them. He was very excited after flying the 720 and said it's the "purest" feeling flybarless out there.

Re: servos. The outrage servos definately rock, but given that you are on futaba and probably should keep your voltage down to mid 6's, the max I would run is a straight 2s LiFe pack ie Hyperion/A123 etc... That takes some of the advantage off the Outrage servo, they would still work GREAT, but just not as great IMO. For that kind of $, I think I would run the Futaba BLS451's. You'd sacrifice some speed, but gain a fair bit of torque plus they are quite a bit cheaper. I run them on my two Velocity 50's and love them. Now if I had the scratch when I was building them, no contest I'd be running the Outrage servos. They weren't out when I built my first one, and during my 2nd one, I didn't feel like spending the extra $ at the time. I do sometimes regret that decision as man they look awesome and perform great. Bah!!! I'm getting off track.

For you and your setup, I'd recommend the BLS451's. Super efficient too, as the Outrage as well. Pull about 1/2 the mah per flight vs coreless servos .

I have noticed a significant Mah drain drop on my Velocity with the Outrage servos. I wanted to run it a few more days before trying to quantify it, but so far I see about 25% drop. That is between 8717's all other things equal.

Flying $uck$...All of the money out of my bank account!

yeah BLS servos ROCK IMO .

maybe I was a bit over board with saying 1/2 draw, but I know on a 2500mah pack I could probabaly fly 8-9 times easy. On 8717's or Align DS610's it would be 4-5 times max. My flying style is somewhere between mild/moderate 3d and picking up pieces and parts lol.
