Ive been running my OS 91SX-H with Cline carb (OS 91SZ 60M carb) with Viperhead for a while now and love it.Im looking for a little more power so I picked up a Hatori SB18 and OS 91SZ-H thats pretty much new.My questions are, what are the stock carb settings for the OS 91SZ-H?Also should I take the Cline carb and Viperhead on off the C-Spec and put them on the SZ?Will I notice anything like power or smoothness if I do?If the Cline carb helps I wanna try the stock carb first, then the Cline carb so I can see the difference between the 2.I just don't wanna pull my motor out to swap the carb if theres no difference at all if you know what I mean but I do need to know the stock needle setting for the OS 91SZ-H carb..Thanks so much,Lon..

Needle settings will be close to the same for the Cline carb on the SZ. Open up the mid and high 1/4 turn from where they are now and work them back from there.

Use the Viperhead. The SZ needs all the help it can get to run smoothly. The C-Spec is a smoother running engine.

The Cline carb on the SZ is worth the trouble. I wouldn't bother with the stock set up if you have the Cline at hand.

Just so I know the needle setting are right for the stock SZ carb, they should be 2 full turns out on high and 1 full turn out on mid then tune from there right?I'll put my Cline carb on as soon as I get the back plate tapped for the fitting or find one thats allready tapped with the fitting. Thanks so much for the reply .

BTW,
In your opinion do you think the OS 91SZ-H will make a noticeable amount of power over the OS 91SX-H with the VH and Cline carb?

Those needle settings are about right. Maybe go 1/4 turn richer on the high speed to assure you start off dead rich.

The SZ makes noticeably more power than a C-Spec.

Awesome and thank you so much for the reply.I never had a good pipe for the C-Spec (Thundertiger 90 pipe) and bought a Hatori SB18 for the OS 91SZ.I did a search on the SZ and everyone says the SB18 is the top pipe for it so I can't wait to try this motor/pipe out .I'll start with the high at 2 1/4 like you said. Thanks once more sir,you are the man ..

I am running that same combination (91SZ-H + OMI Cline + Viper head), and have to run it richer than what older threads I found suggest for the Cline mod. I am now at 2 turns on high and 1 1/4 on mid, while the threads have suggested down to around 1 1/4 turn on high and less than 1/2 on mid, due the the OMI modifications done to the carb inlet.
Ex: https://rc.runryder.com/t461976p1/
Also, when I tune mine it seems 2-3 clicks at a time correspond to 1 normal click. Once I got it right and didn't try to lean it too much to try to get to where the needle "ought to be" based in these suggestions, it can run with great and consistent power flight after flight. I have the MP5-90.

Looking forward to seeing what you end up with.

Karl.

Im thinking about putting the motor and pipe in tonight but can't put the Cline carb on yet because I don't have a back plate with the nipple ,once I find one im for sure putting it on.I was thinking about tapping the one I have now but if I screw it up I can't run the motor at all,so im looking for one in the for sale section or i'll buy a new one if I save enough $$.Once I install it i'll report back and post a video or 2 .Thanks so much for the advice and help guys .

Just tap it. It's no big deal. Use a sharp tap and put the fitting in there with red loctite. Hell, you don't even have to use a metric tap. If your LHS only has a Dubro SAE thread tap, it'll still work fine.
