We are pulling over 200 amps on our 700E's with both NEU and Scorpion motors. The HV80's can't handle it. We use the HV110 or ICE 160 controllers.

Mine is on its way. Shipped last night from RC Hover. Should have it here in Kuwait within 7 days.

I also went with CC ICE 160HV + Big BEC.
Vbar
AR 7100
BLS 251 Tail
Scott Gray Rotortechs
TT 45C 5000MAH 6S x 2

After throwing it about a bit this will become a camera ship with 4-blader head and Triax front mount.

Can't wait to get it.

HV80 will be fine depending what your doing with it and your gearing.

60% of the time, it works every time!

Gearing?

I was under the impression that it was fixed gearing?

.
.
.

I have read on other forums that Align did extensive testing with the ICE 80 ESC and it was plenty for 3D. Apparently the ICE 80 will take very current spikes with ease.

Does the kit come with blades?

gearing is fixed! Zero adjustment in the motor mount or support bearing.

There is also another change in the links for Flybarless. Coming off the servo is two links that go into a triangle piece. From there a link goes to the swash, this triangle now has two holes as well as the elevator/phase piece. The shorter one is for flybarless. I wonder why this isn't on my nitro 3g?!?

Brand new design. Align will probably incorporate it into the nitro at some point.

I noticed on the box it shows that it has already won 2 awards and it is barely in the public hands, interesting.

Do you think it's possible to put a 700le head and tail on the 700e frame?

To the guy pulling 200 amps, I call BS. At 200 amps you are pulling over 9600 watts. Even if you somehow setup 20+ degrees positive pitch and yank your cyclic, you'll probably fry a lot of things before getting anywhere near 9000 watts. Who are you kidding?

Here are some info translated from Align's forum:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The 700E motor was tested on 12S at following speed:
Hover: 1900RPM
Idleup 1: 2150RPM
Average Current: 60 amps

After 5.5 to 6 mins, motor is at 58-70C degrees, ICE HV80 at 40-48C. Thats pretty impressive for the ICE considering it's pumping close to 3000 watts for 5 minutes.

ICE HV80 survived all stress tests on the 700E, with over 180 flights logged. The only time it failed was when they intentionally set the blades to 14 degrees pitch and tried to stick bang the cyclic. Of course if you fly like that nothing will survive.

FYI the K brand Jive was also used in testing. They suffered from overamp cutoff at around 80 amps in governor mode, eventhough the one used was rated for up to 120 amps.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

After looking at the ICE HV160, I realized it's a bit big. CC is coming out with an ICE HV120 if you really need that extra headroom.

Yes the kit comes with carbon blades. Manual specifically states blades used must be rated at 2800RPM or higher.

Oh it also comes with two tailbooms, one aluminum and one carbon. Plus they included one of those nice Align towel, to wipe the sweat off after I fly this monster!

I got mine yesterday as well. Since this is my first big electric I gave Clint A. a call and asked what I should do. These are the high points

1. The CC80HV ICE will surfice with the stock motor and work quite well. Failures were what Steph noted. (only failed when they were literally trying to make it fail)

2. If you want to run one of the other monster motor choices at some point then go with the 160, its a bit big but it will fit, somewhere! Tim Jones' machine, for example, can be over-amped at will.

Its all about what you want, and how you want to fly.

I have flown a lot of 90 size elec helis most of them on 80 amp esc. As pointed out, yes you can over amp one if you have a really heavy heli or lots of pitch or you just don't know anything about collective managment. Is a CC 80HV bullet proof for a 700E, no but it will work for most people. The new ICE 125HV would be a very nice ESC for this heli.

Fixed gearing might annoy alot of scale flyers wanting to gear it down for slower head speeds and longer flight time surely? You are also limited when upgrading the motor. Surely they could have made it adjustable?!

60% of the time, it works every time!
