I currently am looking to but a new TREX 500 RTF and was wondering what to look for after I get it?

If you're getting the torque tube tail I'd recommend pinning the boom to keep it from backing out of the boom block. Also, the plastic tail blades vibrate unless you know a way to balance them. Belt drive seams to dampen this but not the TT. Align carbon tail blades don't vibrate.

I recommend putting in some Trueblood main blade dampeners.

Also, the swashplate developes a lot of slop. I tried a micro-heli swash - less slop but the brass ball grinds itself to pieces on the main shaft. Anyone out there tried the RC-Tek swashplate?

Trex 500
I have a pretty blinged out Trex 500 and it flies great...but when my machine started it's life out as a stock trex 500....it flew pretty well.

the best things to invest in first in my opinion are the motor and ESC..

the stock ones blow...the Scorpion or Neu are so much nicer...as for esc...the jazz 80 or a Jive 80(that's what I use in mine) are awesome.

I HATED the Torque tube on mine so I converted it to a belt drive...so much smoother and nicer overall now...

BTW...I fly the I2 swashplate and it is about as slop free as they get...very nice swashplate...My original never went bad...but it just wasn't all that smooth to begin with..

Lots of pics of my T500 in my gallery ...if your interested..

I had a original t500 when it first came out and it flew well, I upgraded to the scorpion 1600... If u fly hard 3d get a lot of lipos cause on 2500 packs I got 3 min flights... But I was tough on it lol

if it is a new 500 it should have the frames that allow a bigger back. you can get a 3300mah 6s lipo from hobbypartz pretty cheap and you can fly hard 3d for at least 5 min on one of those packs. so sport flying i bet you could get 8 min.

Who cares... its just money...
