you have brought up a very valid point. i would never, ever put an engrish zip tie on a 5mm shaft. it may not fit correctly.

Mccrakin,
I'll bet you can't keep that swash level throughout the full range on that heli. Looks like a small bend in the main shaft.
Nice tool though. Does your friend sell them?
Best Regards,
Don

I priced the metric zip ties and they cost almost 3 times as much as
the standard zip tie. Even more if you want a color other than white.

Very nice. I just installed a flybarless setup on my 600 and it needs a perfectly level swash but I did not want to take the head back off to set it up. I will definitely give this a try.

I think Cable ties are too flexible to provide accurate results, but they are better than nothing I guess.
The cable tie will not flex when you turn the main gear to rotate the shaft.
Also cutting them off could mark the main shaft, causing additional wear to the swash etc.
You just need to be careful when cutting it. It will not leave any mark on the main shaft.

Snip
through the tie wrap latch lock to remove it,you dont touch the shaft then.

I use Trueblood swashplate levellers, no slop at all, slide smoothly and 100% accurate with 0 flex.

Saves you time, hassle and makes flight performance much better.
How does it save time when you have to remove all the links, take the head off,put on the leveler, make adjustments, replace the head and replace the links?

Zip tie method...ZIP...adjust...SNIP.

I literally never use the word literally right.

it would scare you more if A Mohel came to your flying field

we must remember that setting up a heli is based on personal preference.

this thread is thoroughly entertaining. you could start a post saying that a straight main shaft is better than a bent one and some folks would argue with you. i've believed in this method since i started in helis. and you can check for interaction at full travel of the swash. just put the zip tie higher up on the main shaft. now there'll be arguements for how much trouble it is to get the zip tie tight enough. oh and if you're zip tie is flexing, QUIT TOUCHING IT!!

One of the guys on another board asked if this method would also work if the servo to swash links were on.
