mrmel being in contact with them what is the prediction on software configuration. having read the eng manual i must say i'm very impressed with attention to detail as well as configurability of the unit but would be soo much nicer on pc.
What i particularly like especially for newcomers is the 6 degree cyclic test for geometry, that is neat!

Common sense may not be common after all

How exactly do HV servos mask, or repair problems? Does the speed compensate?

Both speed and torque of the cyclic servo will help make it easier for the control loop, the more "rigid"/correct control loop, the more allowance you have on the servos.

I really would like to try one out, but I just calculated the cost at about 408.00 shipped to the U.S. with customs charge and all that fun stuff. At that price, it does not make it a "bang for the buck" contender at this point in time. Hopefully they will figure out some way to ship them for less and pass the savings onto the U.S. Customers.

such friends, I have the beastx two weeks ago and I've flown about 20 times, and generally doing well but I have problems with the tail, when unemployment hit that bounces 10 inches, I've tried all kinds of configurations and not There are ways you can MRMEL detail how you got the glue will work well, the unit is mounted on a trex 600 nitro with Futaba 9256 on tail

Optical illusion or is the sensor not mounted straight?

Key is to have nothing pulling and nothing pushing on the unit, this is VERY important for flight performance, it must be exactly 90 degree to the main shaft on all axis, period.

When does it happen, just sudden in hover or at specific moves?

beastx
mel mr such, it is optical illusion, is mounted correctly and everything lined up, the cables do not pull the unit, as we have to put it.
and the problem always makes me turn tail and drop, make a rebound.
I tried all tThe parameters in the menu of parameters in paragraph D in the 5 positions that can be placed and nothing, I tried putting the gain up to 150% and the wheel well in all positions and all, a curious thing is that although all the gain will never do fish tails, which can be, I'm already bored to test

I am still in the learning to fly process, but from this post I think I need to move to Germany were they walk on water. Or do you have to be born there to be so God like. I have and still do own many German products but they are not what they use to be. There does seem to be a vested undertone to some of these replies. As for the MB, it was a contender, but not anymore. Sorry for the sidetrack and Have a great Day

Well, I solved it.

It took some (rather large) tweaking of P/I both on Tail AND cyclic, but with no change in hardware on the heli, it flew OK.

I've updated the initial review to reflect this, base line being it can be fixed/tweaked, no need to buy new servos for big amount of money and switch your power-setup to HV setup to get it going.

Thanks Mel so let´s hope the possibility of tweaking the P/I values on all axis´ becomes a common accesible feature soon.
David
p.s. @ Jerry: you can´t walk on water yet? You should practice, it´s real fun

polizonteoscar,

From what I can see, you have your ball link in hole nr. 3 on your servo arm of the S9256. Try the outer hole nr. 4 to increase the mechanical servo travel and lower your tail sensitivity on the Microbeast to 100%, then increase it step by step, if necessary.

Maybe worth a try... this helped a lot of MB users.

Looking into the MB I can see why this is happening, the underlying Tailgain values are very low, so Moving out the servohorn or going with bigger tailblades is the solution for now, with the future software you can fix this in other manners (I did just this on mine today)

You are right, Mel.

The developers from Microbeast also issued a statement which says that if you are using the Spektrum DX7 or DX6i gyro menu, you can't get the full 150% gain of the MB (LED "N"), but only around 100% (LED "J").

This Spektrum-specific issue will be solved in the next firmware update very soon and is already fixed in currently shipping versions.

Workaround: Don't use the Spektrum gyro menu, but put the MB tail sensitiviy on Spektrum's gear channel, where you can get the full 150% gain.

Thats only part of the problem (i already found that out on first flight since my tail was superloose at 100%)
with bls and depending on blades etc you can still max out gain at 150 with atv and still its soft. Thats when you need the PC software.

Well I am half Engish and half German, so although half of me can walk on water, I am not so sure about the other half. That is why I wear a flotation device!!!

Thank you so much for your detailed report MrMel, as soon as Freakware figures out a way to ship the MB to the U.S. at a competitive price I will certainly try one out.

I just had a shot of ordering it myself.
After the VAT was taken off, it worked out to be EU $117.56..pretty good..
Then I added the shipping cost...EU $95.**..what the f*&^?
So we are not better off then our American friends.
My guess is that they won't worry about it too much until they have satisfied the European market 1st.
So this could be a while.

Well I am German and cannot walk on water either. What for people use boats these days...
Anyway it's not an export tax for sure. I will contact Freakware and ask them why the shipping is so much to clarifie. Regards Pete

Hi. I just rememberd that there are other hobbyshops online that sell the beastx why don't you contact them and see how much they charge with shipping. Do a search on googel.de for beastx and see what you find. I am sure there are others. Regards Pete
