Hey all, Looking to purchase my first charger. It will be charging the 3s or 4s on my 450 and the 6s or 8s on my 600. I'm looking at the following chargers...

Turnigy Accucel-8 150W 7A Balancer/Charger

iCharger 106B-plus 250W 6s Balance/Charger

iCharger 206B 300W 8s Balance/Charger

I know the 106B isn't rated for 8s, but I haven't made up my mind yet, so its still on the table. Any pro's or con's for these units? The 206B seems to be the better unit, but iCharger is newer and there isn't alot said about them yet?

Is there any other charger in the 200 or less price range I should be concidering?

Thanks for taking a look............

Scott,

If you want to be able to charge your 6s-8s packs fast, I'd recommend the 208b (which is 350W BTW) out of the others on your list. Otherwise, for a little more $$ I'd recommend the new FMA CellPro Power Lab 8. They extended the special price for a while.

For your 8S packs I would look at running 2 x 4S in series, then charge them in parallel as 4S packs. This will allow you to get by with the 206B, which is up to 300W output and pairs well with a P350 power supply. If you do not already have a capable power supply, this combo is hard to beat in terms of price, power, and portability. The 206B is the newest iCharger, and has been on the market since Oct/Nov of last year (5+ months). The 106B+ has been out for about 2 years now.

I really like that idea. I'm going to be running 4s on my 450. So... I can run the same battery on everything. D*mn that makes life simple.......Am I seeing this right??

Yes, you got it and that is highly recommended. For example, I run 3S on my 450s and 6S (as 2 x 3S in series) on my 500s. Keep it simple .

Here's a little video I made a few months back demonstrating this using a 206B/P350 combo with the parallel charge cables I have available:

Hopefully this is helpful and let us know if you have any questions!

Cheers,

iCharger
Not to mention, David's customer service at progressiverc.com (iCharger) is really, really good. He gets back with you every time, no matter how simple the question may be.

+10 for the iCharger

So far I really like my iCharger 1010B+. I bought it from HC when it was on sale for 150. On the first 5s pack I hooked up the balance port shorted out. I did alittle on-line seaching and found alot of support for this unit. I sent it back to the manufacturer in HongKong, yes I hadda eat the shipping to them but the repairs were super quick, at no charge and they rushed it back to me FedEx. They actually responded to my posts about my situation and pm'd me their address and what to do. Was I bummed on the first impression? Yes, but the support from this company overseas was nothing short of impressive. Very good charger for the money...still.

I don't do 3D....no wait. Oh thats right, I can't do 3D!

Well, with the single battery for all thing being said, I can prolly go with the 106B series. That will do a max of 6, which I will never do in a 450 and up to 12s if I run two packs. This should cover me for a good number of years I would think. Anyone have anything bad to say about the 106B?

I don't think there is anything bad you could say about the charger. The 106B+ is small, cheap, powerful and well supported (if you buy from David), and I would highly recommend one ... actually I do and often

The customer support from the US supplier for the 106B+ is reason alone to buy the charger. Its features stand for themselves quite well. I have two.

Well, I ended up purchasing the 206b and the p350. Now I'll have plenty of charging power for the future. And figured if I wanted to charge more than one batt at the same time, more power the better. Is this charger capable of charging two NIMH batteries at the same time? What about lipo?

Scott,

Take a look at the youtube video a few posts back for a demo on how to charge LiPos in parallel using your exact set-up.

Note: this works for LiPo, Life, and even Pb type for that matter, but NiMH cells/packs should not be charged in parallel due to a difference in the algorithm and cell
peak detection.
