Length is critical - diameter far less so.

The wire is stranded copper hook up wire. I have replaced broken antennae with servo wire I had lying around - being carefull to get the length correct.

Just plain wierd !!
So I ask horizon to send me the antennas to save time and money.
Thank you for contacting Horizon Hobby Product Support.
We cannot send the antennas they are service center items only not available for sale. The receivers will have to be sent in.
I explained in a previous e-mail that I didn't want to buy them but to send to me as warranty replacement items

this is what I find strange

I am suppose to spend 5-10$ to mail my RX to them. then after a week or so they will send it back another 5-10$ shipping + labour

instead of sending 10 Cents worth of wire and spending < 1$ for postage

So I am suppose to believe this is smart bussines ?

just had to vent because I find this idea super stupid

BTW I replaced the atennas with wire from an old rc truck

.

Look at it like this... They want to make ABSOLUTELY sure that you do not loose your expensive helicopter. They will also check the whole receiver out. You cannot do that. Looks mean nothing.

I know the frustration, but they are pretty quick. I just sent in something and it was back by the end of the week that I sent it.

Hi guys

If my memory serves me correctly, Paul Beard came on here about 2 years ago and said the antenna are exactly 30mm long and to use a replacement JR 72mHz antenna as the wire.

I have done it many times.

Just wich i could have found some of the stiffer wires used on the newer Rx's.

Regards
Paul

Yeah, the antennas are the problem area.

I used to use hotglue to protect them coming out of the case, but have switched to heatshrink as that's what new units are shipping with.

I just got my AR7000 back from service: new case, new firmware, new antennas. It was out of warranty, but they fixed it for free. Two weeks from I sent it until I had it back. Cost to me: $5 shipping. No heatshrink protection though, so I will add that.
