I start breaking in my brand new YS56SR engine today. I follow the instruction by setting the hovering needle at two turns. However, the engine quits repeatedly when I am at about 40% throttle. I need to richen up the needle to 2.25 turn to resolve the problem. Is that normal? I am using Hatori SAB55 pipe, WC 20% HeliMix fuel and OS8 plug.

Sure.....it is just a guide, there is no way to take into account all of the different fuel, plug, weather, gearing, blade loading, etc that is out there. Being 1/4 turn more is no big deal. Take it slow and start rich

It is not really too surprising since you are running 20 percent nitro, so a little less nitro may require the engine to be a touch richer. The oil content and type (viscosity) of oil also plays a role.

If you are runing with a gov, (mutligov) and if you touched the trims, endpoints, linkage, you need to resetup the gov (idle and full).
My YS 56 was quiting at 40% too, a resetup solve this.

I had the same thing happen with my 56 Sr, break in factory settings were suppose to be 2 turns out on mid, so i started with that about a minute in i checked back plate and it was hot to the touch so i started break in at 3 turns out and now the engine is happy at 2.5 . I found that weird, secondly engine is always leaking fuel although i tightened all screws and even removed carb and tightened all screws there. I should've gone for the 55
