So I just bought a 450 pro dfc and trying to see if I want to stick 3s or go 6s... I was looking at gens ace 55c 2200 3s packs and their 30c 1200 6s, it says their 6s is 10 grams lighter and has more capacity so I could get more flight time and run cooler,

But would it give more power or just more consistent power?

Also I'm guessing a ice light 50 would be plenty to keep weight down

Ya the recent Ice is working well on my Trex 550, 500 and 450. Some of those are on Ice 100s

So for people that have flow both 3s and 6s which do they prefer? I'm worried the 6s is going to add too much weight and fly heavy

I've flown 3, 4, and 6s, I'll never go back. With today's packs you really don't have the weight penalty you would have before. I use the skinny 1300 packs and the dimensions are nearly identical to a 3s 2200 pack.

And yes, 6s is a rocket.

The 6 cell balances perfectly and yes its a rocket, scares me like a goblin does! So if you like all the power the big electrics have, you'll love the 450 on 6cells.Bald Pilots usually wear hats!

I hated my 450 on 6s flew it for over 12 months coupled with FBL it just had way to much power , I governed it down to tame it but it was still not in full control doing 3d you had to be really accurate on the sticks or it would catch you out .

Gone back to aligns latest motor and good C 3s packs and power to weight is much better and in comparison to my 600 and 700 .

It was insane and great to show off inverted flat out climbs which were like a rocket but no good for me as I like all my models to feel the same .

lightningrc, I'm not understanding your comment. If you govern the power down and are using appropriately sized/weight packs so your balance is correct, what exactly do you mean by "catch you out"?
With 6s you still have massive torque even when pushing hard as it does not bog like 3s. If your tail isn't set up properly or the heli itself doesn't have the linkage throw in the tail to counter that torque, it could lead to blowouts. Is that what you mean?

I too don't want the ballistic power that is possible with 6s either. I want consistency. I have all my 6s 450s tuned to fly just like my Vibe50.......well perhaps with a little extra jam but pretty close.

I just finished a stretch on one of my Embla450s so I could run 353 blades. I only have one flight on it so far, but it was so locked in during flight ( right up to the massive static glitch that almost put it into the ground ----- that problem should be solved now ). Can't wait for the weather to improve so I can get a few more flights on it.

Sounds to me like you did not change the pinion or at least chose the wrong pinion/gearing. If you do it right the you will have the same head speed (if you choose so) but more power and better efficiency.

Here is an Ice graph of a flight.

Max 725 watts. Governed to 3400 rpm. I think this is a Tunigy Nano 1300mah 45-90c rating pack.

It basically shows that after a 4 min 20 sec flight the rpm was still at 3400.. The throttle percentage rarely hit 100 percent even with hard manuvering. Any 3s or even a 4s setup would lose rpm throughout the flight resulting in much less performance at the end of the flight.

If the Dinogy is as good as their specs they would be great.

On the 35c note, I have run the Voltz 35c pack, but they have puffed some. In fact every Voltz pack I've had has puffed but continued to work okay.

All my Voltz packs are less than a year old and are puffed. I've been tempted to try the Thor packs as they have received good initial reviews. I'm just a little gun shy as aren't they made by the same company as Voltz?

For this coming season, I'm going to try the new G8 Thunder Power packs. A 12C / 5 minute charge time sounds interesting.

I did hav the right pinion and set up and governed it down .
But wat I found was you had to back the cyclic right off because wat ever cyclic pitch you had it would pull no probs .
I just found it really hard work doing 3d .
Plus like u said power to weight ratio was to crazy , it's like my buddy he's always got to have the most power he can buy , I flew his 700 last weekend with a 120 in it and that the same just had to much power and was over kill .

Like said I like to have the same feel to all my heli's and 6s was not for me .

I know what you are saying now lightningrc.

With 3s, if you are less precise with the stick movements(ie: throw too much +- collective in while doing piroflips), it bogs rather than pops...so it kind of buffers the less than perfect collective management. With 6s, it's got the grunt to give you what you ask for...even when you overdo the inputs. It pops rather than bogs, so the result is that it's harder to do the piroflips until you realize what's going on and consciously move the collective stick less.

That said, I only keep one 3s 450 heli around and that's just to use the 3s packs I have left that still work. Once those old packs give up, I will fly only 6s for the consistency.
