I'm thinking of getting a PHOENIX ICE ESC 75A and using the internal BEC. Anyone using the internal BEC and how's it working for you? This is for a Trex 500ESP on 6S.

Use it on T500 with 6S, 5245MG's on cyclic and Mini-G/9254 on tail. No problem with the BEC at all.

I just installed an ICE 50 in my 500, and plan to use the BEC. Works fine on the bench, but haven't flown it yet. I previously flew it with an HV45 and CC BEC, and that worked fine for a few hundred flights. Originally I used Hitec 5245s and then switched to Futaba 6250s all running at 6v. Went through several gyro/servo combinations before settling on Quark/DS520 which makes it handle pretty much like my 600ESP.

The HV45 came loose last weekend and fell into the pinion! It turned out to be my lucky day as I had just pulled into a fast right-side up pass downwind along the runway when the motor shutoff. I still had the radio due to the CC BEC and somehow managed to slide it in down at the far end of the runway with it still upright. I'm really glad now that I got rid of those rubber bumpers on the skids. The pinion cut through the servo lead out of the ESC about 1/4" from the connection to the ESC, and miraculously didn't short out V+ and ground, as that would have ended the flight pretty abruptly, and of course if the pinion had cut into just about any other part of the ESC I would have had a fireball in the sky. Definitely a lucky day. The ICE 50 is tied down much better.

I run an Ice 75 on a Trex 500, Vbar, Hyperion servos. No problems at all after 5 months of flying. I wouldnt use it on anything bigger though.

When I talked to CC, they said if you run it on a heli above a trex 500 size, to make sure you are not using high draw servos like BLS 451's or 8717's. Cant handle them.
