I'm wondering why some helis have issues with the G3 tail kicking and others do not. I have 42 flights on my 600N G3 now and it's been 15 or more flights with no tail kicking. When I installed the G3 I did it with a new engine at the same time. I wasn't sure if my tail kick was tuning or the 3G. Now that the engine is run in well and tuned I haven't had a tail issue in many flights. This leads me to conclude my issues were tuning after all. The unit does have a slight kick sitting powered up on the bench but nothing notable in the air.

On setting the cyclic gains of the G3.... as I lower the G3 aileron & elevator gains the heli cyclic response slows down. If I have the gain high enough to get a fast cyclic response I get unwanted elevator or aileron bob. The conversely, if I lower the gain enough to get rid of the bob completely the cyclic response is too slow. With the gains low enough to have no bob raising the swash mix %'s on aileron & elevator does not help.
So I have to compromise by accepting a slight amount bob to get the cyclic speed I want and then adjust my flying to get around this somewhat.

Did you setup your swash mix values for maximum throws while in DIR mode?

Hell... I can fix that.
Uh oh..
Nope.
It's ***ked!!!

George,
Do you mean maximum throw you can get out of it or setting it to the maximum pitch/cyclic you want to fly at?

Sorry to jump in on the thread.

No I did not..... I set it up with 12* pitch and 12* cyclic. I could go back and max the set up throws and see if that helps. I was waiting to get the software update before re-working the set up.

The thing is...I can get the cyclic to be as fast as I want by just raising the the cyclic gains but the higher I go on the gain the more pronounced the bob after hard cyclic inputs. With the gain set at the 11:00 o'clock position the heli flips and rolls very fast but I get this bob bad after hard stops. At the 9:00 o'clock position the bob is completely gone no matter how I fly but flips and rolls are much slower than I'm used to. With the gains set anywhere between 9:00 and 11:00 o'clock it's a trade off of slower cyclic for less bob. For lack of better terms....I wish it would flip, roll, and fly with the locked in feel of 11:00 o'clock gain and no bad flight characteristics.

Funny the directions say to increase the swash value during set up to increase the flip and roll rate. The ELE and ALE gain works like the one on the tail gyro, so use that to fix the bob you are having, and reset up your 3G with 14 degrees of cyclic pitch. That will make you heli flip and roll faster. see page 9-10. Hope this helps.
