My setup before disaster struck:

600 3D
10S hyperion 35C, 4200's
Hacker esc and motor
Hercules super bec
Boom grounded fore and aft with static wick
Latest Vbar with satellites

The heli had been flying awesome, prob had 15-20 flights on it. 30 seconds into first flight of the day, hard left piro and no radio control whatsoever. I flipped into hold, no response. It stayed upright (cyclic servos stayed where they were) and it climbed a bit, then sank and crash landed. Just as it went in, the motor went to idle. Both satellites were blinking at initial inspection and all servos worked properly on reboot, as did the Vbar unit. The battery cycled fine and all cells had proper voltages. 93% charged at end of flight, so plenty of juice left in the battery.

My suspicions lie with the BEC. Any thoughts?

What cyclic servos ?
If the bec doesn't shut down when quickly cycling the collective up and down for 30 seconds, it's not going to happen in flight.

Sounds more like a static hit.
When you say static wick, do you mean those little antenna looking things ?
They don't work as well as graphiting the belt and properly grounding the boom to the motor mount.

As stated above, boom properly grounded to motor mount and grounded at tail as well. Also added static wick for grins. Did not "graphite" belt.

in my experience the static discharges don leave the satelites blinking, i think it's something to do with the bec. i have bench test bec that fail after 3 minutes of moving the ciclycs. sorry about the crash.
also are you using bls 251 tail servos in the ciclycs?? or bls451??

sorry, my mistake. bls 451's on cyclic, 251 on tail.

thanks for thoughts.

Agree with you sounds like bec, definately a brownout with blinking sats, do the pitch pump test and check your connections and connectors

Common sense may not be common after all

It could be the V.bar w/ sats. I have noticecd that v.bar w/ sats arent as reliable as w/ reg. recv. I had experinced that v.bar w/ sats do have more of a glitch then straight recv. type. about a month ago, i damaged my heli due to glitch in my v.bar unit. Damage wasnt too bad but still costed me over $100. I had L500 w/ regualar recv. and L600 w/ sat's and the L600 sometimes gets a tail kick or glitch or both where as L500 does not flinch at all. just my 2 cents..

is that a new heli? Oh no honey, its the same one w/different stickers.....

I'd be really surprised if 4 bls series servos were able to shut down the bec.
I've run that exact same bec with hungrier servos without issue.
