Got my 8FGH two Fridays ago after selling my 10C. I took it out to the flying field for the first time this past Thursday, and after opening up my Tx case, notice some darker areas on the screen, even before turning it on. When I turned it on, you could barely make out the letters in the darkened area, unlike other parts of the screen which looked normal. I thought it was because of the eggshell foam on my case, so I cut out the area on the foam for my screen. Flew well, and when I got home that evening and took the radio out of the case to charge it, the screen looked normal.

Figuring that the screen was ok, and not somehow ruined by the eggshell foam (now removed), I charged the 8FGH, and took it back to the field yesterday afternoon. After removing the 8FGH from the case, same 'spots' appeared. Very baffling. The screen right now looks normal.

I never had a problem with my 10C, so I am wondering what is going on with my 8FGH screen?? I thought it may have been due to 'sunlight', but took it outside in my yard (screen looked normal inside) and the screen and lettering were just fine, and readable.

Anyone experience this, or have any idea what could be causing this? Could it be that leaving the Tx in my truck during the day could cause part of my screen to get too dark (my windows are very tinted, and Tx is still in the case...temps about 65F)??

I wish I had pics of what it was doing, but right now the screen looks normal.

Are you wearing polarized sun glasses when you are looking at it out doors...if so....you will see some random spots and blotches...Just the way it is with some LCD displays...

Never thought about that. I wear glasses, and use clip-on sunglasses. Will have to try it and see.

Try keeping the transmitter out of the direct sunlight when you are not flying. I have had this experience with various tx's and when I am not actually flying I keep the tx in the shade. It helps!

Don't feel bad. I was at the field and got a phonecall. Thought my Palm Pre screen was all messed up. Was really pissed until I took off the sunglasses. Then it was a

moment.

The other thing I'd think could be wrong is the LCD was sitting too long with direct sunlight. Many LCD's 'go black' with enough sun (I think it's the heat, though). Take it into the shade and let it cool off, and the display starts working again.
