So, Second flight.. It went great the first 3 minutes, engine was running great and had good response. I was just getting comfortable and worked my way up to inverted hurricanes but staying withen my limits. About to start piro flips, and then I went to put upright, and when it was in the stall part, it just went straight to the ground, like it was a magnet!. NO IDEA WHY?? It didn't come down normal. It went down with ALOT of speed! Radio was good, engine was ideling, servos were good. I rechecked every single screw before the flight. The first flight was great and flew very smooth. I had all the mods.,well not the flybar cage, but that is said to not be an issue. I am really bummed out. It was flying great. Im not blaming it on ely q as it is always the pilots fault, but it must be mechanical somehow. Noticed the ball links were not on the flybar cage, but they were Raptor links. They could have easily come off during the crash... Any ideas???????

Damage =
Blades,
CF boom
boom brace.
tail/main spindle( probably)
tail blades, paddles
CF frames
flybar
main shaft
plus whatever bearings
landing brace
landing skid.
some links..
main tank.
muffler ( I think it is just bent on the mounting part.
fins
taco'd rx pack..

That is just the visible stuff.. I am sure to find more.

Now I have a spare ultimate kit. Is everything listed minus the frames/tanks interchangable???

I am still really really bummed about this. I was defintly not expecting this! I will get some pics up..

If anybody can help me out, It looks like I will need a new frame, and cf blades. If anybody has some they could sell to me, that would be great! I would much rather buy used and save a few.. Mavrikk or other of the cheaper blades will work great!

maybe 80ft about. a tail snap? what do you mean? Like the boom physically snapped?

It was flying fine, then in half a second it was on the ground. Didn't even have time to relize it was going to crash. What makes me mad is that I have absolutely no idea why it happend....

I believe there was already a hairline crack on my tail case at the rim where the bearing sits.. That's the part that snaps. The heli did not go into a frantic tail spin. It happen when I flip it tail up, and the moment I hit the rudder stick.. the guys and myself heard a "Snap" sound and with the tail still point to the sky and it seem stuck where it is, and the model hit nose down to the ground really fast..

Not as bad a crash, but broke both side of the frames, which I've eventually rebuild and it's now stronger then before..

az heliguy-- I honestly down remember at all. It happend so fast and I was so shocked I didnt think about it. My guess is it went on its side or tail first.

Any body no about the ultimate parts and compition parts being interchangable? Like the shafts, bearings?

Ouch Dude!

Sorry about the crash!

Some parts (quite a few) are interchangeable between both the Ultimate and the Competition, The Mainshaft is longer then the Ultimate to accommodate the 3rd bearing block,

The feathering spindle and thrust bearings in the blade grips however should be the same.

Callum

thanks callum.

Im taking it apart and found that BOTH frames are cracked.. I basiclly need a whole new tail.. PLUS all the other parts.. So, I am probably just going to have to buy a new kit.. I think that would be best. It wouldn't be that much more expensive too. Sad. but amian hobbies has it for 250 shipped w/ custom canopy. I will probably just order that tonight.

The mufflar mount is slightly bent, but looks like I can just put it in a vace and bent it back.

I will ask a simple question, and If you don't have an answer, I would understand. But this same thing happened to me last week.

Did you have full signal after the crash? Meaning, was your light on your receiver solid, or blinking? Or did it throw the Battery, and you are not sure.

Last week just before going to an event, I had a back yard Duzi. I was hovering, and my helicopter had a temporary power loss to the receiver, and in she went at full head speed. Turns out that my Antenna was loose on my receiver, and loss of signal occurred, and in she went.

Let us know, we are all here to help.

No, my rx is good. I am using an AR7000 so a brown out is very rare. I have it set up the main unit on side of the frame, and the alternate antenna 4 inches away turned 90 degrees on the other side of the frame. I figure this way there is almost no way to lose signal.

I still havent order parts yet, but I found a web site that is really really close, like probably a 3-4 hour drive that has parts, so they could be here in a day. Bummer is that parts will cost me over $250, still good for a .50 crash, but Im not used to it being that much for a crash.......

What about a static electric lockout? I've had those before with carbon belt driven heli's. Was it acting twitchy at all before it happened?

Airsoft.

I know Brown outs are very rare, but I have had 2 of them in the past week, so they are not impossible. Were your lights blinking on your satellite? This is something that you will learn to pay closeattention to. Never shut off your system until you have looked at your receiver after a crash to see if the light is blinking; blinking lights are a Tell All sign.

If you are not sure, that is okay. I just don't see anything less then loss of signal driving your heli to the ground with force. Even if a link were to break, usually you would get a very sideways, and violent irregular action from the heli, but not a full pitch slam. Not saying that something didn't possibly happen to the Heli, but I would be sending your Receiver back to have it analyzed, especially after a crash like that.

Sorry for your loss man, I really am. And I am not blaming you or your gear. Instead I am just trying to help, so you don't get this heli all back together and it happens to you again, like it did to me, due to a Electronic Failure.

Hope This Helps

Craig

I agree with Oragami AR7000's are not immune to brown out or signal loss, a weak RX batt will cause temporary signal loss on any Spektrum RX.

I had a raptor 90se that I didn't know why it went down. Sent in the jr 921 rx. It had a bad receiver in the main rx. I thought that's what caused it. But checked the other components to make sure. Replaced the battery. Couldn't find a problem. Put it back together. Flew for 5 minutes being easy on it. It locked out. No more raptor. Narrowed it down to the arizona regulator by process of elemination. It's sucks crashing when you don't know why.
Good luck.

Yep, I am thinking I might want to send in my AR7000 to horizon and see what they say. Do you guys think it could be a bad regulator? I am using a Align 2n1 and a 2s 1800 off brand pack that was at my LHS. I think my pack is good though, but the 2n1.. not sure it is trustworthy.
