Well fired up the new updated v2 software. first flight tail wag still there went through and changed gain still either get wag or a tail that won't hold.

2nd flight dialed gain down picked up into hover wag gone then the chopper just tips over and does chicken dance. I go over and check machine out Cyclics work fine but if I move the throttle stick up it will not add pitch or movee up??? Unit is flashing red/green light now??

This is the final straw I am done with this system. It has cost me two sets of blades plus main shafts and main gears.

The tail won't hold or lock in. It is costing me more for flybarless than it is worth!

planeflier,

Looks like the 3G did not initialize correctly at powerup. The 3G will respond if cyclics are given but no pitch movements.

Did you check on power up that the 3g unit initialized correctly? If you using spektrum/jr 2.4, sometimes the 3G will not initialize correctly since the 3G unit init's first before the RX.

Thanks.

I'll add that the Vbar system is good for ME (not trying to be a Vbar nut). The Align system has worked quite well for my friends. But, I like the computer interface and adjustability of the system. I also really enjoy that it flies more like the sim to me. I am able to do things with this system that I would have never tried with a flybar. But, keeping that in mind, I have only hovered the other system and don't have enough experience to really knock it. I'm sure that Align will get the bugs worked out soon.

I have two V-Bared Logos, tried the 3G and I could tell you that it shows the Mikado has been doing this for a while. If you want to think you are saving money go with the 3G, if you want a tried a true FBL system go the Mikado way. Yes you get what you pay for.

tcast,

I fly Futaba and yes the 3G did initialize correctly. After taking it apart on the bench I noticed that the cable going into the unit was loose. I don't know if this happend in flight or after crash. The reason I say this is my reciever case was split open after the crash???

I need to order a new washout arm and replace a ball link and should be good to go. I am going to put the flybar system back on it and try only using the 3G tail gyro and then my G770 gyro and see what happens.

which cable? The cables going to the sensor from the control unit are hard to get off. they also need to be connected correctly. i have read on the other forum that people have had problems with this.

Sorry to hear about your bird. Hope you get it back going again soon.

Well I sent Align 2 emails a week ago, never got a response. They are dragging their butts on getting the update out and are charging for the cable that should of been included in the first place. I give up on the 3g, it is crap in my opinion. I am getting another Vbar! Thanks for all the help guys, and thanks for nothing Align!

What the heck is it with V bar guys? Is there some mandate that comes with it that you have to hunt every 3G thread you find and talk $hit?

Well I have 2 3g's so that is why I look at the forums to get answers for them. The fact is I am so frustrated with them, I am just realizing how much better the Mikado unit is

At some point you have to honestly ask yourself if the 3G was really "cheaper" than the competing devices. I'm sure there will still be quite a few who will hold on because they believe Align can do no wrong or it's their first FBL experience and have nothing to compare it to.

Personally if I was new to FBL I would spend the extra $$ and buy from a company with a proven track record of customer support. FBL can already be a challenge without attempting it for the first time with a shoddy unit. The mere fact Align is charging for an upgrade cable is a joke and should tell everyone where their real motives lie.

i dont understand why paying for a upgrade cable is a joke... if you look in the right places you can get a 700 3g with blades for close 2 400 bucks, ya sure a vbar is 475 but doesnt come with a head or blades, and if you convert it thats kool but your still not getting another brand new head... and ya the 360 doesnt come with the cable... so that systems a joke as well? and as for their real motives i think everybody knows its to get money, most businesses have that motive.

At this point it is not an upgrade cable, it is needed to fix the problems on some units because of Aligns rush to market. You should not have to pay to fix an item that was flawed from the factory. Ive learned, in this hobby you get what you pay for.

You are right though, I will stop telling you how much better the Vbar, Skookum, or Gyrobots are, I will just go fly and enjoy my day while the 3g guys are home scratching their heads!

well you can actually get the upgrade for free from a hobby shop once they release it, but yes they did rush it into the market, and as a consumer knowing that you have a option to but it and deal with early release problems or wait until its been out a while, as for my 3g its flying awesome, pretty soon the 3g will b fixed and all will b good and everybody can enjoy flying the heli which is what this hobby is about... but this forum is about getting help with questions and so i would just appreciate if every time someone asks a question on the 3g the people that are posting buy a vbar would stop, unless their willing to buy the vbar for that person

No head scratching here. Mine flys fine. Has since I installed it a couple of dozen flights ago. Maybe I just got lucky.
