ive flown about 9 packs on my trex 450 sport and then the tail started kickin to the right every once in a while, now it will hover and then all of a sudden just start spinning in circles, i got in a video even, the belt is fine everything else seems fine...my tail blades i have never changed and at the ends of each blade is shaved off a little due to scrappin grass or concrete..never crashed i just cant figure this one out...u think tail blades can cause this? its spinning tail to the right nose to the left

I think that Gyro is responsible for that. What do you have for gyro?

gp 750..when i hold the heli, the tail will start trying to go right and once i correct it with a little rudder it will be fine and then it will just try and go right again..

How about a loose or bad (intermittent) connection between the Rx and the gyro, and/or the gyro and the servo?

If it is drifting, it is possible that your gain is too low. What do you have your gain set at? Also is this happening in windy conditions or calm?

binding.
You mention the ends of your TBs are shaved a little. This will cause out of balance conditions and most likely binding in the pitch fork. Spend a few hours balancing everything to perfection and your tail problems should be solved. Better still, chinese weights.

maybe the tail servo is on its way out.Do you have another servo you can put on there and see how it acts?

I would think that an out of balance tail blades would cause the tail to wag up and down.

Not necessarily. Just think about the effect unbalanced TBs have on the linkages to the pitchfork. It will cause it to bind.

I had the same thing happen to my first 450. It turned out to be the front drive pulley for the belt. It was plastic but was stripped. It'd hold initially then start to strip in flight which would heat it up. When I landed (or crashed) it'd cool down and stick on the shaft again. Noticied it one time when I hit the tail control full over while at full speed on the ground and the tail would slow down. Took me a minute of playing with it to notice it was that front pulley slipping.

Look for something slipping somewhere.

You mentioned when you hold the heli the servo starts to drift until you correct it, which is what will happen in heading hold and a slight rudder input. I would check rudder trims and sub trims in all modes first and make sure they are centered because it seems like the servo can't find neutral.

i just bought a brand new ds420 so the servo is fine...i think it is the front pulley slipping...how do i check to make sure? is there an easy way? i just locktited it and went to hover and its almost as if i have no gyro...the servo is moving fine back and forth and it still spins nose to the left tail swings right and the servo is moving exactly how it should but its not affecting the tail/rudder movements...seems like its my gyro but ive never crashed this heli and it was flyin fine i woke up and it started kickin out and by tonight its swingin like tiger

I should not have read this post because today my king 3 is doing it!

With tension on belt tighter than I should the front pulley slip. I have same front pulley for over 2 years.

Will change that and see what happen but right now its windy and rain later.

edit :

I the tail shaft is 4 flight new.

Well, I replace the front belt drive with new one, did not fix the problem, my belt seems to be worn out probably from slipping too much, It held find on the ground, soon as it get a lift I spin up. I'll put on different gyro and belt to try tomorrow.

It could be that crappy new tail drive gear that is not perfectly center out of the bag too. Don't got extra one of those left.

Load tested the servo and it seem to be still good. Its a Futaba S9257.
