When the heli is sitting on a flat surface unmoving, the tail pitch slowly creep all the way to one side. When flying the HH gyro is always trying to pirouette to the right I can stop it with about 75% opposite rudder input. It didn't do that at all when I first got the heli, and I am starting to think I dorked something up with the tail. Is it normal for the gyro to creep like that when the heli is sitting still on a table?

uuuggghh! I'm getting sucked backed in again...

Hi
yes , that is normal for a HH gyro , be sure you leave the machine still , when you first plug it in , as the gyro has to initiate

there are two other things to check

first , if you have biffed the machine the torque rod for the tail can get a stripped gear , it is the crown gear that contacts the maingear that always strips

also if the gear is not stripped , you may be able to adjust the centering , by sliding the tail servo mount up or down the boom a bit

i would switch the TX so that the machine is in RATE mode , to get the gyro mechanically adjusted , and then switch back to HH , hope this helps

.

The gyro on mine initiates way after the beeps and rx -- watch and wait till the servos moves or twitchs.

Make sure the pc board out front is secure and not bouncing around

Trying to help,

You guys were both right. I had a broken tooth on the crown gear under the main gear. I also wasn't waiting long enough for the gyro to stabilize. It's much happier now that I corrected these 2 issues.
thanks!

Glad you got it working for you. These are great birds.

Just as a note to any others having this issue. The gyro does not initialize until a few seconds after the cycle servos do. On mine it is the very last thing to happen. Here is what mine does...

1. turn on TX (2801) ( walkera light flashing fast)
2. plug battery to heli while TX light is flashing (motor beeps)
3. put heli on flat level surface while TX light is flashing and WAIT and do not move the heli in any way
4. cycle servos will twitch (center) as TX flashing light goes solid (binding final)
5. motor will beep again
6. gyro will initialize and tail servo will twitch (center)
7. Go fly!!

If the tail is perfectly centered the tail servo will not move when the gyro initializes so you can also watch the light on the RX as that light will be flashing and it will go solid when the gyro initializes and them you are ready to fly. With the canopy on in bright day light this can be hard to see so I generally go by the servos centering.

If I say duck, I'm not talking about a bird that quacks!
