I have a brand new Trex 700e,and im getting in a Spartan Quark..
I'm gonna be running it through my gear channel with endpoints..
I have a Jr X9303..
So it has to be set up 50 or more percent for it to be on heading hold?I'm not gonna be flying it on rate mode.
Anyone have this gyro on a 90size heli?
And what is a good percent or endpoint should i put in first for heading hold?
Thanks so much,
Dan

Assuming you're setting the gain off of the ATV/endpoint menu, all positive(+) values 1% or higher will put the gyro in heading hold mode.

I'm running +48% on the gear channel endpoint in heading hold mode, which equates to around 37% actual gain if I did my math right. This is on a 700E as well, running a Futaba S9256 with a 17mm arm.

If you're used to running expo on your rudder, expect to cut the amount down considerably as the Quark has a TON of built in expo. I know a few folks who actually run negative expo to get the feel more linear. I'm currently running -10%(that's right, JR/SPEKTRUM NEGATIVE) expo on my rudder and 122% endpoints on my rudder channel.

Hope this helps!

quark doesn't have a lot of expo. it's the same as the 760 in that respect which is 5% if memory serves. it was originally made to feel like a futaba around centre since that is what 99% of people used back in the day who were likely change over.

i personally like that feel as do most but to each their own, it is adjustable if need be.

cheers

Well, if it was in fact made to feel like a Futaba around center, they sure as heck didn't get it right.

I'm a LONG time Futaba GY401/611 flier and this is just what I've found to be the case with my Quark. I do like how consistent it feels through pirouetting maneuvers, but compared to the above gyros, its feel is definitely NOT as linear.

Spartan Quark on Trex700e
thanks guys..I just flew my 700E, with the spartan Quark..I am using a JrX9303..
Some guys told me some have theres at 35-40 percent on the gear channel in heading hold...I had mine through the gear channel also, but it was getting wag at 55%,so i lowered it to 50%,and it seems great..Hope it isnt to high,no wag though...Funny how some with the same radio and heli have theres so much lower in heading hold..
So far so good...!!

when you run it on the gear channel your gear switch becomes selection control between rate or heading hold mode.

when ever i setup a new gyro i will always just do my best to make sure the tail is centered then will go ahead and set both end points to 40% on rate and heading hold.

spool it up and if it holds i leave it alone and if it drifts i turn it up, seeking and it gets turned down. just the same as any other gyro.

as for getting the linker. it just makes fine tuning easier and faster. so that is up to you to decide.

Who cares... its just money...
