Went to take my HVLP spray gun apart today to give it a good cleaning for my next project and the damn body cracked when I took the air cap off. To make a long story short it is no longer in production and cannot get parts for it anymore. A $200 gun down the drain.

I will never buy NO NAME JUNK AGAIN!

I am afraid that mine will do the same. I just consider them disposable and don't get too broken up about it. Look at it this way, you get to shop for a new spray gun!

that sucks!

i just go over to the local surplus store and grab an elcheapo $35 gun, works just fine. i just cant justify the $200+ on a pro gun, not yet anyways.

I own several spray guns. One of my favorite is a Devilbiss GTI, I have owned it for 13 years, I use it for the top coat(laquer) I have used it every day up to 5 times for all this time, nothing has been replaced (only the pot)!! It cost £200, £200 well spent I say!! as it still looks and works like new!!

I've got a pair of high end devilbliss (SP) guns that are always pristine and gone through and ready to go when I need em....

then I have 3 of the $14.99 HVLP gravity feed "pro" gun from Harbor Freight....I abuse em, spray crap coatings and basically use em to shoot primers and other substandard coatings....

I buy the extended warranty with them ($2.49) and my cleaning regiment consists of running a bit of acetone through em when I'm done...In other words, I dont clean em...

When they are wore out from misuse....I take em back and get a new one on the warranty plan.

AND yes....I asked em a long time a go after I fefused the warranty (cause I knew I would abuse the tool and technically speaking abuse is not covered under warranty) They told me they didnt care what I did with the tool, If it quit....they would gimme a new one....at that point I bought the stinkin warranty....I havent bout a new paint gun in YEARS....

And quite honestly, when your shooting a normal compound...they work darn good for the price...I've painted plenty of RC cars, trucks and Heli canopies with em....look in my gallery, all those canopies were HF guns...

Ask your Doctor if getting off your ass is right for you.

Wow!!! you spent $200 in a no namer????
I got one for $20 and works like a charm.
I took it apart a couple of times knowing that it might fall apart and there are no spare parts for it so I went and bought a second one to have it just in case because I knew that if I break it I would never find the same one again.

I shouldn't have said a no name, I was a little pissed and venting, just not a brand name like Devilbliss, or Sata. It is/was a Nesco. It is actually a very good gun. Came with two size paint cups and three different size tips.

Talking to several people they way it broke should have never happened. I was removing the brass air nozzel under the fluid nozzel and the body cracked. It was like they used some kind of thread lock or something.

It's funny you mentioned Harbor Freight Salty, I just came back from there and got the same gun for now. Not real impressed with it yet, it's a little rough. I think my other parts might fit to make it feel smoother though. I wish they would have mentioned the warrenty, I would have done that.

Yeah your right....the HF gun aint as smooth as the Sata's and the devilbliss....but then again...look a tthe price, you get what you pay for...

That said, I've gotten some high quality outta those cheapass guns, you gotta set em up right tho...

Make sure you blow that new HF gun apart prior to shooting somethin, its full of some sorta assembly lube that'll bugger paint up with a quickness...(ask me how I know)

BTW, you can buy the warranty even after you made the purchase...long as it's just a few days....

Ask your Doctor if getting off your ass is right for you.

No it can't be repaired. There is air channels and threads for the cap to screw into.

Yeah Salty, the first thing I did was take it apart and clean it. I couldn't get all the crap (silicone?) off. I even soaked the nozzel in acetone and it would not remove. I might try my reducer, if that doesn't eat it I'm not too worried. There was also some flashing I had to remove in the air passages. Your right about you get what you pay for. BUt I'll make it work. Look at my Honda in my gallery, it was done with a $50 Sears siphon feed touch up gun.

Unfortunately it's a custom paintes gun stock for a showpiece for my business. I need this to look as good as possible. At least it is only for the clearcoat, I can at least color sand and buff it.
