Many of those teachers have a lot of schooling that they take, They go to college for 8-12 years thats just as long as a basic doctor does
I am not the one spewing propaganda Mr. I have not made a comment for or against the pay raise of educaters.
I have obviously stuck a nerve with you though. Do not try to redirect the direction of your misinformation. You are proving yourself to have absolutely no credibility. All you should have said is "oops my mistake my statements on teachers collegiant durations were wrong and misleading" instead you try to argue a mute point.

Thats nice but any PUBLIC EMPLOYEE should not make more than 10% higher than the serfs they serve.
Private sector has to compete but the SEIU or the teachers unions dont?
WE PAY those salarys and we should have a say.
Dont like it go the private sector with the rest of us.
The WORLD takes a cut but the precious goverment workers dont ?

Jgaterman,
I simply gave examples of teachers I personally know and have met.
I said earlier that I agreed that many do have have just a BA, did you miss that point? I never said "all".

You are implying almost all teachers except those that taught you in your privlaged school have only spent 4 years in collage and I am saying no, some k-12 teachers have a lot more.

If you don't like my comments, I could care less. Veiled comments calling someone a lier is the best you have offered yourself. Where are your facts to back your comments?
All any of us have done you included, is offered our opinions here and nothing more. So what does that say about your credibility??

My comments are based on my personal experiances while dealing with my teachers at a comunity college and freinds and family that teach.

I know actual teachers who have more then four years invested, the ones I personally know and I am speaking of have over 8 years invested in their education. Both my aunt and uncle are teachers who have their masters, and my uncle had other BA degrees also.

If you want to be a Jerk then go for it! Just because you have no education or no respect for those who teach, doesn't mean everyone else out there feels the same way.

If a teacher wants to make more money they go back to school while they teach, the more degrees they get, the higher their education level is, the more they make.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

I take it you feel they should make no more than minimum wage plus ten percent?

So what is the High School Graduation rate in D.C.? How many go on to College? Does it justify such a reward?

You are the person who is so insecure that when someone asks you to back up your statements with facts you become beligerant. I did not make the broad sweeping and completely false statment that teachers go to school as long as doctors. Please feel free to get over yourself.LMAO

Pay a teacher according to how well they can teach a kid, Isn't that the bottom line.

Another thought pay them according to how well they can keep their political and religious beliefs ( or lack their of ) out of the classroom.

Not hardly. The public schools in DC are some of the worst in the nation with drop out rates in the 50% neighborhood, and not getting any better.

And James is supporting giving teachers there a huge raise from $67,000.00 to $147,000.00 a year. Thats not including those exclusive union benefits folks. Yeah sure, thats real worthwhile to do.

Give me a break.

Nope, they want and are demanding more and more.

The Unions feel that they deserve it because they claim they MADE America what it is.

Dennis,

Stop being ignorant.

They are not getting a raise to 147k. The limit on what they can make is being raised to 147k. And that's performance based. They don't perform, they don't get raises.

Take off the blinders and use your squash.

Stupidity can be cured. Ignorance is for life!

So, if it is truly performance based, no one should be getting a raise then?

If you really and truly believe that will actually happen in Washington DC, the ignorance is put on the wrong guy here Pru.

heliaddict,

Educational bureocratic administrators (read un-elected politicians) are running the show in our schools. They tell the teachers what they can and can't teach. It's no wonder thing are going to hell.

The teachers are merely a pawn in the game.

Stupidity can be cured. Ignorance is for life!
