Let's see now... just how many of his campaign promises can the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces break??? How about "no new takes on the middling class?"

http://www.atr.org/obama-floats-vat...cialized-a3302#

Hey- he's told the truth about one thing: he's going to (with the help of the sycophants in Congress and the media) transform America.

The Bush tax cuts will expire and as sure as the suns rises, the VAT cometh. It has to happen, since spending has geometrically increased and will never be cut.

His transformation is underway now. This one's really gonna hit the wallet.

The late, great, America. How sad.

fwiw...

Big discussion on my AM hate radio today...Seems most countries( UK included)which have instituted VAT are heading downhill fast...VAT usually rides in on promises of major tax cuts elsewhere....But that never happens....
Next up....LAistan.

Yeah, they will throw the VAT tax scare out there for awhile until Cap & Trade starts to sound good. Then, they will pass Cap & Trade.

These people are so sneaky.

the Fair Tax and the book written on that subject addresses all of this. The one thing it does not address is that if it was ever implemented (along with a const. amendment to get rid of income tax), these thieves would eventually repeal that and we would then have a fed. sales tax AND an income tax. There's a great book on the Fair Tax written by Neil Boortz. It will never happen because it would put a lot of lawyers and almost EVERY CPA out of business.

And, their lobbyists in Washington very are powerful and they have a lot of money. Just what the politician needs.

Thats why I am going to vote OUT OF OFFICE every single incumbent. BOTH sides.

Its time we gave them a CHANGE and put THEM out of work.

If the economy were to pick up even slightly, what do you think the fed would have to do to head off inflation?? You got it, Einstein: raise interest rates.

Multi-trillion-dollar deficits fueled by runaway spending can only mean one of two things: either spending is cut to match receipts, or taxes are raised to match spending. Now under this current regime, which do you think will happen?

Correct again, Brainiac: by definition, community-activist regimes don't reduce spending. Ergo, the VAT.

But if will start small, maybe 1% (but at EACH level of production), and fool many if not most.

Here's The Regime's over-arching goal, as articulated by Sir Winston Churchill:

“The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.”

That goal being: instead of a few prospering, let's ensure everyone's equally miserable.

It's being rolled out before your very eyes, explicitly, in the open.

Suckers, the Naive, and the Uninformed will not notice nor care, since they have little skin in the game anyway.

I don't think so. Obama, Palosi & Reid might give it a shot. But, the Dems already know they are skating on very, very thin ice over the ObamaCare thing they just passed.

If they passed a VAT tax before November, it would finish them and give the Repubs a majority in both the House & the Senate. It would be a rout.

They might swing it. But, I doubt it. If they did, taxation is easy to repeal. All they do is get the majority vote in the House and the Senate after November. The president signs it and directs the IRS to push a mouse around and do a few clicks on IRS computers and its done. Same with tax hikes.

The ObamaCare thing is far different. It might be repealed. But, it has a better chance of loosing in the Supreme Court over Constitutional issues and it can be defunded in the House & the Senate. But, I don't believe it can be repealed.

As an individual, generally, one cannot control income; one can only control personal spending.

But of course countries are different: they can control their income thru taxation, which is supposed to cover expense. But when they spend, they can do it either by printing money, borrowing, or both.

Short answer to: how are the republicans going to raise the money to tackle the debt problems? Answer: "Raising money" is code for higher taxes. The solution was, is, and will always be: CUT RUNAWAY SPENDING and peg the federal budget to inflation + the rate of population growth.

But it'll never happen, b/c a majority of the electorate will always ask: "what can I get from the gov't, that the gov't can force the other guy to pay for?" Hence, the VAT.

I think they'll hold off on this little jewel until after the 2010 elections. Problem for them is that they'll probably not have a majority anymore, or a very slim one at best. We all know they'll NEVER cut spending. I would really love to know what the % of the Fed budget is that is nothing more than pork.
