There's only one access hole on each side of the circuit board to adjust stick tension.
Anyone know if you can adjust all gimbal movements without moving the board?

The lot I got is not a lot, but I thank God a lot for the lot I got!

The 9VHP ( I have one ) and the 9Z WC(1) ( I have one also ) are an engineering screwup. The board on top of the sticks prevents you from adjusting the stick tension. You have to open the transmitter and remove the board. Each direction is adjustable.

Hello Four Stroker,
Yeah! a little disappointing-considering I just adjusted my 9CHP by removing four screws which gave access to every component housed in this radio.
Thanks for the comeback!

To whom it may concern. You don't have to remove the circuit board.
The second access hole for the right gimbal is located under the right end panel.

+1

I distinctly remember tweaking the tension on rud, ail, and ele directions on my 9Z (all three I had) without pulling off the back cover.

The destructions showed how to do it.

Dr.Ben,
The rear cover does have to be removed on the 9VHP. Only two holes are visible, one for each gimbal. The second hole for the right gimbal is under the right end panel.
Unfortunately the instruction manual has nothing to say about stick tension, only stick length and gimbal tilting.

That sounds about right. To get rid of the airplane ratchet on throttle, you had to remove the back board.

Yeah Mike, I was only talking the 9Z that Richard had referenced in his post, not the 9V.

Well I just took the back off of the 9Z. On the left side only the vertical tension is available with a hole. On the right side of the transmitter, both hor. and vert. are available. To adjust the left horizontal spring tension or the ratchet, the board has to come off.

This isn't right for either MODE I or MODE II.

Richard,

Look at p 19 of the manual.

The access hole for the rudder tension is under the back rubber panel.

If you do as the manual suggests, are you saying you can't adjust your transmitter?

I am saying that the manual and the transmitter disagree! I'm sure someone intended to allow you to adjust the sticks from the outside but the guy who layed out the board didn't get the message. The extra hole is only on one side. There is a chip under the corresponding hole in the back of the transmitter on the left side (right side as viewed from rear) The rudder tension cannot be adjusted. I have a 9Z WC not the WC II so I can't speak for it. Everyone disassembled the transmitter to get to the ratchet and smooth it out anyway and that's when you adjusted the tension.

I took the back off of the 9V. Curiously enough, you can only get to the spring adjuster for both horizontal sticks. To adjust the vertical you have to take the side plate off. And of course, to adjust the ratchet, the back circuit board needs to be removed. Mikerobe's description is correct.

EDIT: There may be another hole but there is a ribbon cable on top ot it.

OK.

Got it.

I know that when I did my stick tension, I did pull the back off. I just don't recall the procedure since I've not had a Z since March of whatever year the MZ's first released.

Yeah. That was a long time ago and not important now. I really like the new dual ratchet and easy adjustment from the outside on the 12Z/14MZ.
