Hi Guys! I slow a bit the governon gain in my cc85HV so i will test it! But i would like to know what you think about my setup?

I am Runing 10S 2X 20C 4000 Mah Zippy bateries
Castle 85HV
Governor Mode - Governor High
Scorpion HK 4025 740KV

Make sure you upgrade to the latest firmware. Some of the older versions had an error that caused the motor and ESC to run hot.

8 KHz PWM and a timing of 2 or 3 is what I run on my 10s setups with Scorpion motors. It’s best to start with a governor gain of about 10 and gradually increase it about 2 steps at a time. If you start with too much it can be hard on the gears.

When increasing gain if you get tail wag or the gears make an unusual noise than you have reached the gain limit. Sometimes you have to re-adjust your gyro gain to get optimum gyro/governor performance.

Governor gain
I have alredy upgraded! The gain 25 had a lit bit tail wag, but very small!!

I heard that if go down in gyro gain under 25 your head speed will be inconsistent!

If you run a timing of 5 your motor will have more power than a timimg of 5??

I am runing 5! I will try to use:

PWM =8
Timimg = 4.

Thank you!

I have experimented with timing and it does not make any difference that I can tell in power. It’s more to due with efficiency. Each motor has a timing that will give best efficiency.

I just noticed that you are running high governor. That’s one of the old options and it does require that you use a head speed tachometer to calibrate the relationship between your transmitter throttle setting and the actual helicopter headspeed. The only advantage of that mode is that you can change the headspeed set point from the transmitter.

The Set RPM is much easier to set up but you have to use the Castle Link to change the 3 set points.

tachometer
I folowed the finless bob videos and u used a tachometer to set the 75% trotle and 85% trotle at fixed endpoints, so lather i put it in gov High and check what trotle % i had to put to achieve the desired bhead speed measured in the fixed endpoints.

I had 2015 RPM for normal
2100 for idle1.

My trotle percentage in gov high is 65% Normal and 69% gov high.

Actualy i am runing trotle 60% in normal mode becouse i think this head speed is to high!

What head speed are you runing?

The 600 makes a big blade noise?? I was isued to 450s!! So ackward!! Ahhh!

I run Set RPM mode at 1850, 2000, and 2100.
I run Rotor Tech 610 blades.

set rpm X Gov High
HI! do you think that the option set rpm is better than gov high??

When you increase the motor timing it will be the faster the motor?

Thank you!

I don’t think one is better than the other. They are just different. CC has said on their forum that the part of the firmware that controls the RPM is the same in all governor modes.

The Phoenix and ICE series use dynamic timing so changing the timing setting doesn’t change the motor RPM or power that much. Too much timing just makes the motor run hotter and loose energy.

Changes in PWM and Timing
Yesterday i changed:

PWM: 12 to 8Khz
Timing: 5 to 3

Today i will test it!

I did not changed the gain! It has just i little bit wag when starting and that is it no more waging when in flight!

This ESC is awesome! A lot of setups is possible!

I am loving this HV setup! No boging! No batery heat!
To much power!!!

The only thing is that you have to carry a lot of pair of bateries!! Ahhh!!!

Have you ever tried A123 cells?
Is good becouse you can charge then very fast!

see you!

Did you have to upgrade the main gear or just use the stock main gear?

Did you have problems whit the main gear??

See you!

Wolffman,

Why not use the RPM setting on your HV 85? You then set the 3 RPM points to whatever headspeed you want. No need to worry about main gear and pinion unless you want very high or low headspeeds. All you do is enter your main gear teeth and pinion teeth into the castle program and it then calcs your ratio. From there when you enter in your three points the program will tell you if the headspeed you want in that point is too high or low. For example im running a 11.33 ration on my 600 that is 170t main and 15t pinion. If I try to put 2100 rpm in the high setting I get a message telling me that is too high for the setup.
Again if your not getting the desired HS you like then you might have to re-gear.

I use 1900 for basic flying, 2000 for 3D and 2100 for hard 3D.

Everyone needs to adjust the headspeed for the way they like to fly. More headspeed has more power but less flight time. If you are just learning keep headspeed low for maximum flight time.
