I am in the process of buying another heli, but I am stuck deciding what I want. Part of me wants to buy the ElyQ 50 Comp and the other part of me wants to by a Raptor 50 Titan SE. I already have the earlier Raptor 50 Titan, and I know the Titan SE is a good heli, but I kinda want to try something else as well.

Besides price differences, what would fellow RR members choose if you were in my shoes???

I don't think I have ever been this undecided...It's driving me nuts!

If you have had a raptor in the past, I would stick with what you know. You are more likely to enjoy something that you are familiar with.
You probably have few spares for raptors in your stock, and will be familiar with the construction which will help get it in the air and get it back there in the event of a crash.
The raptor as many people point out is an old design, but it is well proven and will fly all of the aggressive move if yo want, Just watch one in a pro's hands and that says it all. Spares are cheap and readily available and there is an abundance of 2nd hand bits and pieces out there to choose from.
I am a bit biased but this is what I have found by flying and building over the last few years.

Good luck

Yeah, I am a die hard Raptor guy. Almost everyone I fly with has one, even if they have other brands. And yes, I have plenty of Raptor parts

I am actually replacing a Raptor 50 V2 that I crashed a few weeks ago. Had that thing for almost 6 years with no major crashes and then I have the big one. Oh well, it was bound to happen sooner or later...

Just thinking about broadening my horizons so to speak!

Thanks!

If I were able to get a new bird, without question it would be a gasser. 20+ minute fly times, your friends waiting to fly may not like you again, but I would love to have a gasser.

So long and thanks for all the fish!

I have a 50v2 myself. Totally happy with it too. But I am eyeing a SDX 50 for my next 50 if and when my Rappy dies. Always wanted a Hirobo.

I'd go for the Raptor if it were between the two helis you mentioned.

But otherwise go SDX.

The new Raptor has a nice canopy, but they are going CCPM.

Sigh. That leaves Hirobo as the only manufacturer of 3D helis that has even a mechanical mix option. I hate tweaking CCPM settings.

Not going to get rid of my CCPM birds anytime soon, but I like a mechanical mix in the fleet.

I was looking at the X50 also, but with no definite release date, I am not willing to wait after the delay of the Titan SE unless it would happen to appear in the next 4 weeks.

Bad part is I don't need another heli, I just want one.

The Titan SE will probably be my pick as I am not getting good vibes with ElyQ right now. Prices vary too much support kind of bothers me based on what I have been reading.

Still not out of the running though. I still would like to try something totally different and I wouldn't be out as much money if I crash it or don't like it.

Outrage and Hirobo were also on my list early on.

I studied the outrage velocity pretty well at the bham funfly and they look pretty solid.Watched hotshot tony wring it out and was impressed.I really liked the adjustability of the head.
I like raptors too, easy to work on,dependable as well.
but if I was looking at a 50,the velocity would be right up there on the list.

it's better to ask for forgiveness than for permission

Steer clear of the ElyPoo. Go with either the Raptor Titan SE or if you can afford it the Velocity 50 (parts are very cheap though).

The SDX is a very nice machine but doesn't crash well, I crashed mine and it would have been cheaper to crash a 90.... including blades!!

60% of the time, it works every time!

undecided
I always see somebody that can't decide if they want a raptor or a titan or a whatever, but I hardly ever see a hawk pro brought up much. Is there something wrong with them? The reason I ask is because I own one.I am fairly new to helicopters and I have been flying this one for about six months now. I haven't flown any other helis except a kalt cyclone and a blade 400. It seems to fit me ok. Am I missing something or is it strictly preferance?

nothing wrong with the hawk pro, just the 30 market is a bit slow. but if you want something to compliment your hawk, and get into the 50's, then i recommend the Century NX50. basically, its your hawk on steroids.

Very nice Bell 222 I also noticed that you were the one that I wrote to a while back looking for directions for a nes130. Were you saying that the hawk pro has no balls? I think I kind of noticed that but because I haven't flown much more than the hawk pro I kind of notice it more so by watching other videos of helis

nope, never mentioned the hawk has no balls. in fact, if you want to give it the power to weight ratio of a 50 machine, you can stick a Toki 40 into it.

Im just saying it you want something a little bigger and more powerful, then the NX50 may be right for you. I currently have the YS50 in mine, but i have never really been too happy with the power output...maybe because im just used to the 90 machines. But i plan on putting a YS56 in it shortly.

yup, all the upgrades you could want, aside from a full metal head and tail, are given to you stock in the box with the NX kit. the NX needs absolutely nothing to upgrade out of the box to get it to do what you want it to.

The cost of upgrading a hawk vs buying the NX makes it worth while.
