SO RR Guys,

TOPIC: RUST!

I live on an island in NC. Im surrounded by salt
air and coastal winds. Ive been flying my new 500
for about 4 weeks here now. Tonight I was looking
close at it for signs of rust and I see some on the
main shaft,,, uhh oh.

What could I do to help stop it?

Steel wool it?
WD-40 it?
or?

...

What Im worried about is some corrosion
in the ESC or other parts causing problems!

Any ideas?

Yes, some steel wool should take care of it and you could also try some Boeshield T9.

Use Triflow on the main shaft and you won't have anymore rust. I also use it on tail shaft, feathering shaft, etc. Use sparingly and wipe off excess.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Use dry silicon spray. Something like this will work well. http://www.dkhardware.com/product-6...cone-spray.html

Yep you can spray it on there if you want, just don't go to town with it. A little spray goes a long way.

Hi guys

Go buy some Pacer brand after-run oil.

Apply with a Q tip to all rusty parts. Come back in a day or two and all the rust will be gone. I usually just wipe the now dirty oil off with a paper towel and leave the risidual oil on.

The after run oil has rust inhibitor in it. Trust me, it really does work and is not messy like any of the sprays.

Regards
Paul

Honestly I have had no issues with rust using the Tri-Flo.
Great stuff and keeps everything lubricated at the same time.

Ahh, I did have some Triflow in my box. Bought it a week ago. I thought it was for motor and just bearings. Looks like theres more to it then I thought.

I have some Hobbico after run oil. Maybe that will burn some rust off that shaft?

Im sure any oil will work but Tri-Flo seems to cling
and last longer since its synthetic and finer.

instead of sawing on it with steel wool, try a little old fashioned Naval Jelly, wont hurt any finish, and completely removes all signs of rust. wax on, wax off.

Go to a marine store and but a bottle of corrosion-x. It can be applied to metal AND great for any exposed electronics. It even brought a water dunked camera back to life for me.
