Just old news from the 2008 campaignIts "Brian", not "Bri Bri". I don't mind the political talk at all. Just wonder if someone is extorting Mark's site for personal political business (paid special interest) without revealing their affiliation.
As for this post,
No, not really disturbing, and not the biggest hustle in history. This was an attempt by the Clinton campaign in 2008 to discredit Obama and evidently, it failed. I guess desperate times are the driver, being the Right is resorting to using Hillary's old material. There is plenty issues to be factually critical of with Pres. Obama without resorting to such lame minutia.
I for one would not use the title "Professor" unless the University job description stated it in my job description. It is a stretch especially if you only look at "Professor" as tenure track position. Still this is just word play, but misleading. As for the "he was hated" claim, who cares. Plenty hate him now, and plenty like him. It was probably the same then. Its a subjective statement, so what.
Back in 2008 the U of Chicago statement in full supported then Sen Obama's right to refer to himself as a "professor" while not officially holding the title.
Statement from the University:
"The Law School has received many media requests about Barack Obama, especially about his status as "Senior Lecturer." From 1992 until his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, Barack Obama served as a professor in the Law School. He was a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996. He was a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004, during which time he taught three courses per year. Senior Lecturers are considered to be members of the Law School faculty and are regarded as professors, although not full-time or tenure-track. The title of Senior Lecturer is distinct from the title of Lecturer, which signifies adjunct status. Like Obama, each of the Law School's Senior Lecturers have high-demand careers in politics or public service, which prevent full-time teaching. Several times during his 12 years as a professor in the Law School, Obama was invited to join the faculty in a full-time tenure-track position, but he declined."
Here are a few salient topics to discuss rather such partisan tripe:
Bitch about the US border policy
Bitch about Afghanistan
Bitch about Iraq
Bitch about extending unemployment benefits
Bitch about the progressive tax structure (reapportioning wealth)
The welfare State
Dwindling pride in ones work ethic
Or, dare post something about helis.
