Most of my flying time here lately has been either before or after work.I was wondering if it was good to leave your helis in the vehicle during the heat of the day?I park in a semi shaded area, and leave the windows cracked, but I worry about the heat getting hot enough to damage something,or possibly warp the blades.any suggestions guys?It can be a PITA to load and unload 2 or 3 times a day.

Personally, I would take them out.

The heat cannot be good and I worry about someone breaking into my car (The parking lot at work is not very secure) THere have been instances here locally of people having helis stolen from their cars while they stopped to eat at restaurants.

I would definitely take the heli out, leave the hli in the oven it's not a good idea
Plus as Jbiter explained you don't want no one to take your helis!

If you have your heli in a proper built case supporting pod/boom, your heli will be fine. Only thing you have to worry about now is those pesky Cubans down there in Florida.....

Also depends
it also depends if its an electric or a nitro...

Last summer i left a nitro in the car just one time, to do some after work flights...the fuel pickup tube got hot and melted off the nipple...(well not quite MELTED ok, but it did pop off and i did not notice it so one flip and the header tank was empty, of course engine quit....one auto later i noticed it)
I imagine it was dam hot in that fuel tank

But i also left my 450 electric in the trunk for half the summer and had zero issues....

I leave my in the heat of the truck through out 2 summers no issues. The killer is the direct sunlight, cover them with a white towel to protect it from sunlight.

been 80's here also, and my suv is black.I leave my windows cracked a bit so it doesn't get too hot.I have heard that the heat wasn't good for the li-pos,and that the alcohol in the fuel would evaporate.
on another note,is it possible for the heat to warp a set of carbon blades?I kept a spare set in my vehicle all last summer and I tried to use them last weekend and couldnt get them to track at all.

I remember somebody here posting a picture of what his canopy looked like after leaving it in his car all day on a hot summer day. It was all mangled and deformed. Definately couldn't use it. Heat is the enemy. I would try to take them out of the car if at all possible.

If I am not mistaken, auto insurance may pay for your stuff but only if it's documented with receipts, etc. The insurance company will do anything to get away without paying. You would have to check your policy and your agent.
