The motor on my 500 seems to be way down on power, it is the older one from the original kits. Is there anyway to check them out?

Mine seemed that way after a few months of flying and I just got the scorpion 3026 1600kv, I don't know of a way to check it other that how it flies.

If you change to a 14t pinion on the Scorpion you will see a great difference. I fly the Scorpion HK-3026-1600KV on the 14t with a governed hs of 2875.. lots of power..

G Steyn, the difference between the stock align 500L and the scorpion 3026 1600kv is night and day. Way more power, its double the wattage of the align motor, and yet is a bolt on and fly upgrade. Only thing you need to do is cut the motor shaft down a bit, and add a flat spot for the set screw. Make sure to wrap a plastic bag or something around the motor when cutting the shaft so you don't get the powder or shavings on the motor magnets. I run the stock esc, and pinion and it screams at around 2850rpm. I'm extremely happy with my scorpion and also make sure you lubricate the bearings every six or so flights, as recommended. 1/4 million revolutions per flight and the bearings wont last with out some help

Watch out with your lipos.... Id recommend 30C around 2500Mah and 400-430 grams on the 500. IMHO the lipos are the key on this machine
