Can anyone tell me the difference between the 3K tail blades and the regular ones? I think that I have the 3Ks now but they came with my kit (used) so I'm not sure.
Which are better?

The 3K's are much stiffer. You will find a noticeable performance gain on the stiffer tail blades.
Unfortunately, the 3K's are often out of balance and you need to check/balance them before you mount them on your Protos.

fwiw..

I've tried them both...Finally settled on the yellow plastic blades on 450 and 500...Don't feel I give up anthing in tail control, and blades hold up better on rough field autos....

Are the 3ks wider in cord and more brittle? I've already broke a set of them on a stick in the yard!

The 3K blades I have are dimensionally the same as plastic...But they are more brittle, and nick easily...

Anybody using KBDD tail blades? After destroying several sets of various cf tails I switched all my helis over - even my t700. So far so good. They're a lot cheaper, and KBDD's are stiffer now than they were a couple years ago.

Be aware the main rotor is very close to the tail rotor in hard moves.
The KBDD's are a little longer than MSH blades.

My MSH 3K blades chopped the tip of the SAB main blades when I had a loose spindle.
They are still in perfect shape...

Good to know. I'm using SAB 430's too.

Will the 70mm KBDD's listed as "for t-rex 500" work on the Protos?

4mm root 70mm will work. KBDD makes both the 4 and 5 mm root. Just make sure you order the right one.

Thanks Kevin

I finally got some KBDD blades for the tail and I love them! I got the bright orange ones and the visability is fantastic and they work very well in flight too! I'll definately will be buying more of these in the future for my other helis!
I did screw up and get the 5mm ones but I sanded them down with no problem.
