Nice to see you finally come around. Will we see the nitro Knight 50 in the classified soon? JK!

Congrats! That should be an excellent heli. I'm so tempted myself.

I have to be careful what I say as I am affiliated with Compass, but man the quality of this heli is outstanding,it really is top notch,as i said before this is my first CF frame and its light and strong, very rigid.the pinion support is unique and from what i have heard really does its job.it will be a few weeks before it flys as i need some $$$ for servos and gyro and rx but it should be in the air by May.I'll post more pics as I go

Slider,
That is an Aquacraft Top Speed 2. They dont sell it anymore. The newer version is the VS1. Its wooden hull you build. Its about an 8 hour build.

Definitely go electric. Very easy conversion.

Nitro 3.5 only puts out about 25000 rpm and electric with the UL-1 motor on 4s puts out about 32000rpm. You can use the Align 500 L motor and 6S for about 40000 rpm. There is a real benifit to going fast electric.

My boat hasnt been completely set up yet. Im running half throttle until the end of the run where i can get to 2/3 throttle for about a second. I need to do some more set up. The speed controller is a 100Amp turnigy and the battery is a 4S 4000. The motor is a UL-1 you can find at tower hobbies. After 8 minutes of hard running the battery is cool and the ESC is a little warm. Motor is a little warm and no water jacket.

Here are some links.

Any questions pm me. This was a very easy boat to build. im using the smallest prop available for the 3/16 prop shaft. This boat will absolutely scream when set up right.

cool fender.
I saw the box said 6S. What will you use for Battery, Motor and ESC?

What was your deciding factor between Align 600 and Compass?

the 6HV runs on 12S,it is designed for a High Voltage set up,which is where they got the name.I will be running 2 6s packs(which is really what it was designed around) in series.either 2500mah which I have some here already for the Atom, or some 6s 3000-3300mah.that was their reasoning for going 12S,they figured a ton of guys are flying 500 size helis with 6s 2500-3300 mah batts, and if you decide to go with a bigger heli such as this, you can use your existing batts and charger set up.Plus, the batts will be interchangeable between helis(the 500 and 50).it really is a nice situation if you own a 500.

High V also means less Amp draw,so you will get insane power PLUS decent flight times. Some guys are reporting 6-7 min of HARD 3D,so sport guys(myself included) are looking at close to 10 min flights...not bad for a 50 size elec.

motor is the stock Compass motor, basically an ATOM motor on steroids, and stock esc,Hobbywing 70AHV esc.I am going to run the CCPro bec to power everything.I may get an CC ICE HV esc later on as i'm really interested in the gov and data logging stuff

blades are the new Compass 615mm CF blades

any other questions just ask,oh.... servos are still undecided, rx will be the Futaba 8ch HS rx, and I'm 99% sure I'll put a FUT 520 on it

that sounds really interesting. I like the idea of using same packs on 500 as 600.
Is a 12S getting popular with Align 600 pilots? I guess a switch over of Motor and ESC from 6S to 12S can be easily paid for in the savings of batteries.

plus as already said the HV set up has much lower amp draw,so sport flyers can also get away with 25-30C batts.no need for the 40-45C more expensive batts, saving even more money.

yes a lot of rex600 guys are going 12S.I think for big elec it is the way of the future as there are so many pluses, and really no drawbacks other than weight
