Watched 60 minutes for the first time in years. The product is called "Snus". Smokeless, tobacco in a pouch, with no spitting, etc. I just bought a can and this stuff is the shizz. This is way better than gum, patches, etc. Plus it tastes great. Look it up. Sweden has been doing this for years.
Might be the way to quit the devil.

I hate to chew stuff. I switched to E-Cigarettes and worked for me. Its not for quitting alternative but it works for me. I guess you can also use it to quit as well.

it's actually pretty cool. Look it up in Sweden. You don't have to spit.

It is still a form of tobacco. but now you are swallowing it, instead of spitting it out.

So long and thanks for all the fish!

One guy I know smokes that e-cig. Kinda looks like the real thing and he gets all kinds of looks in his office

I was thinking of trying it to kick the habit (worked for him)

Not true Scott. I bought a tin tonight and it's totally different. I've bought the smokeless packs before. This is totally different. Doesn't deal with the nicotine aspect, but at least you're not inhaling, plus it's really cheap. I'm sold. Way better than puffing.

again, Snus is different than the smokeless packets for those that want to quit. Google it, it's been in Sweden for 200 years or so. Read up on it. There's been no evidence of ill effects and you get rid of the nasty cigs.
EDIT: they're actually pretty tasty.

I smoked from the age of about 10 til I was around 35. The only way I was able to quit was from riding a bicycle. I got on a bike one day and rode about one mile and thought I was going to die. I never really noticed how out of shape I was due to smoking. So I put down the cigarette and rode every day. It was not easy to quit and I feel for anyone trying to quit. But give a bicycle a try, it might open your eyes, it sure did for me. good luck to you all, I have been in your shoes.

So long and thanks for all the fish!

Quitting...
I recently quit chewing as well, what worked for me was the Equate patch sold at Walmart. I went through the 6 week program and haven't had a chew since, it's been about 6 months. I have chewed for most of my adult life and quit for 3 1/2 years once, but went to a party, got to drinking and a smoke smelled so good I told myself I could just have ONE(yeah, RIGHT). I will say that one of the good bennies for quitting is that the wife is happier and shows it !!!

Ain't going BACK EVER!!!

I take the dummy crown. I didn't START smoking 'til I was 34 after my divorce. Started dating bartenders and one thing led to another. Before that I was the biggest anti-smoker. Problem is my hangouts still allow smoking and all of my friends smoke, so it's hard to get a way from.
And I do have a bike that just needs a new front tire, then I'll be riding, plus planning on getting back into the gym.
Smoking is the habit from hell.

true...it does. But my big problem is being around a lot of people that light up. If I can break the HABIT of having a cig in my hand, or in my mouth, I think the nicotine will be easier to kick. Sitting at the bar, drinking a beer with nothing in either hand seems un-natural. So staying away from my hangouts for a while is going to be a big help too.

I smoked for 25 years I quit a couple of years ago cold turkey simply because I wanted to. Mind over matter. I just said to myself who is stronger you or your will to smoke, I decided I was not going to let cigerette kick my a$$ so I was able to quit. Sure it was hell and sure on occasion the thought of smoking has arisen however I always go back to who is stronger me or the cigerette. So far I am winning. Also plain old sugarfree wintermint or spearamint gum helped everytime I wanted to smoke just popped a piece in. So once again Marlboro Reds goodbye and good riddance.

I just recently quit too. Had wanted to since my daughter was born June 2008, kinda would like to see her graduate at least! I just had disc replacment surgery, quit 3-4 days before surgery and havent had one since. Only been a month, but the cravings are gone. Weird though, the biggest urge I had to light up was after a flight.
