I can't decide which way is better to go, convert my JR 10X to 2.4ghz or sell it and just buy a spektrum 7 ch. I love my 10X, but I have a hard time justifying the cost of the conversion, when I can get a new spektrum for almost the same cost. The other advantage, is that it seems almost everyone else is using a spektrum radio, which would mean I would have an easer time getting "tech support" from fellow modellers. is there some other aspect of this dilemma that I am forgetting to consider?

I dont see your point regarding the cost. it's almost zero.

you can get the Spektrum module and a 7ch receiver for about $109 retail. The receiver alone is $100 so the module cost is $10.

it works fine; I just did it to my Futaba 9Z

dont forget about all the reprogramming you'd have to do.

PM user 'dragon2115'; I believe he is using the Spektrum mod in his 10X

Before I would give up my 10X I recommend you go the module route. I have a DX7 and while it serves me well it is no 10X.

ok. I'm glad I asked. I must have missed something here, because I was under the impression that the module with a receiver was close to $270. (edit) NVM I fillowed the link! That makes my decision for me! (this is why I wasked, so you guys could save me from a stupid mistake!)

Thanks!! I am excited!

uuuggghh! I'm getting sucked backed in again...

any hobby store should be able to order it for you. I got mine from rchover.com

even the spektrum webpage shows that the street price is $109 (down from a retarded $3xx MSRP)

if Futaba had gone a more reasonable route w/ their module, I might well have done that but they are still holding out for $180 for the module and then $100 for a receiver. So going Spektrum was a no-brainer

If you have the 10X you best get this one.http://www.horizonhobby.com/Product...odID=SPMMSJR910
You also get the R-9000 rx.
I got it for my X11 even though I lost 2 channels cause the module is 9 channels.
So, that way you only loose 1 channel instead of three.

I hope this helps.

even though the DX7 is faster than the modules, I would keep the 10X. You're going to hate programming the DX7 after you'd been using the 10X.

I put a module in my 10X and flew it for a bit and have since gone to a 12X. I sold the 10X and frankly, I miss it. What a radio...

10 X Conversion...
Definetly a good idea to switch it over... I did mine about 2 years ago also and it was great..... one of my flyig buddies bought it and it has never missed a beat!!!! I still like the touch screen and the "feel" of the 10X... pretty sure you would not be happy with the DX7.... not even close to the same league radio.... in fact, we just switched my 8103 over this weekend, using this new style module for another friend... the only thing that you will actually not have is the model match feature, which we never had before either.. so it never caused me any problem.....
And if you only need up to a 7 channel rx then the 7000 package will do the job for you and you can always get a 9 ch rx later if you want.. the module is the same...but that is a good price with the 9 ch also!!!!

Good Luck...Stan

10 x to 2.4
I have a 10x and was thinking of going to new radio but now i think i will just convert to 2.4 after reading posts. i can get the 9 channel for 179 through horizon, that will be good. Now just decide what regulator and lipo to get. I was thinking of upgrading to fut bls 451 servos then i would be all set. Thanks

I just did the 2.4 module upgrade on my 10X too. I went the AR7000 route and was only out $90 for the package. Fit is great and the TX stand is still functional.

Well then, so long as there's no bridge or cliff nearby, you should do what your buddies say - assuming you want to ignore the above posts...

Is it just nostalgia, or is there something about the 10X that the 12X lacks?

A The touch screen interface is so much better IMO.

B The 10X feels better and more substantial in the hands, and I swear the gimballs were slightly smoother.

C Although this is purely subjective, I had a better feel of the stick positions with the 10X. Center stick on the collective was where it felt it should be. I don't have the same intuitive feel with the 12X - even after many dozen flights with it.

Take it for what it's worth. There's no doubt the 12X has many added features that makes it a more desirable radio. I do however wish they would have taken the 10X and improved the firmware to produce the 12X - and maybe added a memory card slot as well.
