Clutch liner replacement
If the clutch never engages until the throttle almost reaches quarter stick, is that the time for the clutch liner replacement?

yep.

You may want to think about replacing the clutch, as well. If it is stretching that far to engage, it may be sprung...
Hell... I can fix that.
Uh oh..
Nope.

Though you don't mention the brand of heli you're talking about , this may be of help nevertheless....

http://www.raptortechnique.com/repair_liner.htm

Whatever brand it is, make sure that your "gap" between the liner and the clutch is no more than about 12 thousands TOTAL between the liner and clutch.......otherwise, you'll be back to square back sooner than later !
Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

don't rule out engine tuning.. if your idle is super rich, the engine will not get up to the rpm it requires to expand the clutch until half stick.

another factor is throttle linkage setup.. lowest stick is idle, mid stick is around 50% throttle opening and of cse full stick is 100% by playing around with linkage length, throttle subtrim and end points. if you dont use a gov, just play around with throttle curve on your transmitter AFTER u have set the correct travel.

everytime engine is removed/ or after a crash, throttle linkage and gov end points MUST be checked

too bigger gap could cause premature clutch to break. i change clutch and clutch liner quite often because i like the pop

this is for the benefit of newbies btw..
