What radio?
I have asked before about this type thing.

Guys that use lipos in the radio and remove them for charging.
I was told my DX7 has a non-volitile memory and can go without power forever.

The memory is flashed every time you turn the power off. But if you don't turn the power off, and the battery dies, the memory doesn't get flashed.....
Hell... I can fix that.
Uh oh..
Nope.
It's ***ked!!!

Yeah its going back tomorrow first thing.Every thread I seen said its a free fix so thats awesome and makes me feel good about my radio. The one thing that ticks me off is they should of put a backup system in these radios like the 72mhz ones with the watch batterys, kinda stupid they didn't do this and not sure why .My little one had a awesome Easter and I know its a free fix so all is good, just hope it doesn't take forever to return..

Mine is a DX7 also.I read alot of threads on "backup error" and seems people get this from killing the battery like I did or its happend with power on and unplugging the battery.

Does anyone know why they don't have a backup battery like the old systems ?

You say free. Yes it is free and it was free for me. But shipping? But time lost? Memory will be flashed. Start setup from scratch. Just tiny backup battery would have solved all these problems and their repair time as well. I am sure it is not that hard for HH to repair, but it is still time, processing, etc.

On a positive note, I would say that HH guys were very helpful and understanding. I was pleasantly amused of customer service.

Well I know i'll have to pay shipping which is $10.00 bucks or so,no big deal.It will take a whole 30 mins to program both radios so no time lost there.Yes,the tiny battery would solve all these problems,it has for years until Spektrum 2.4 .Wonder if Futaba 2.4 has the backup battery ..

I've come close a few times now that I think about it.
I've left it plugged in to the sim and forgot until I heard the battery alarm

Whaaaa?

...and, how long does the little battery last in a 10x lets say, if you never run the main battery down too low?

Its funny you say that.I had a trusty Futaba 7CHP (72mhz) and was going to keep it as a backup but sold it .People are funny when it comes to asking to borrow somthing so i'll be sure to get a extra one and if someone needs to barrow it,there more than welcome.

I had trouble with a Helicommand one time and had to send it AND my radio to Indiana. They in turn sent it to Germany.

I seriously considered a second radio that 7 week stretch.
Luckily it was cold as a bucket of penguin sh!t the whole time it was gone.

I dumped the Helicommand.That's for sure.lol....
It was nice for fast forward stuff but made any 3D look jerky.

Anywho,yup,gonna get a cheapy 2nd.Maybe DX6i or something.

Yeah for sure make sure you turn it off ,see what pH7 said https://rc.runryder.com/t559638p1/?...ht=backup+error .Seems once they loose ALL battery power the memory is gone and needs to be sent in .Still wondering why they never built a backup system like the 72mhz radios .They have a watch type battery (72mhz radios) the size of a nickle that gives enough power to keep the memory alive, not sure about the 2.4 JR radios but theres no backup battery in the DX7 .Still not sure why they didn't make a backup system knowing somthing like this will happen.Im putting a big note on my work bench that says "MAKE SURE RADIO IS OFF OR DON'T FLY FOR 4-5 WEEKS" haha..600LE,OS55,OS PowerBoost pipe,Align 610's,Spartan
