900Mhz/500mw vid Tx vs. Airtronics 2.4Ghz
Hi folks, I'm wondering if anyone else has had experience with 900Mhz @ 500mw video Tx vs. Airtronics FHSS -1 and -3 type receivers. I get an incredible amount of interference on the Atx receiver compared to what people get with other brands, apparently.

The video Tx has a bandpass filter on it's output which came as part of the package from the vendor, as well as toroidal chokes on the video and power. The Gyro and ESC on the aircraft are also choked with toroidal cores. Additionally, the separation of the R/C Rx vs the Video Tx is as good as, or better than others running a similar setup. I loose the R/C link at about 3 feet away when in the SD-10Gs low power range test mode. With the Video Tx off I can get MUCH better range. These tests were done with ALL 2.4 Ghz equipment disabled (router, wireless headphone, printer, Blu-Ray, Game Consoles, Phones, blue-tooth, etc). I live in a semi-rural area so that eliminates all 2.4 Ghz equipment in say a 500+ foot radius.

I've popped open the Rx and there seems to be little in the way of filtering on the antennas for the inputs on the 8 Rx, however I haven't opened up the 10 channel FHHS-3 Rx yet.

I ordered a few micro 2.4 Ghz bandpass filters from Digikey that I plan to put inline on the Rx circuit board that allow 2.45 +/- 50Mhz through with a 0.5db insertion loss and attenuate the rest to some extent to see if this will help.

The biggest reason to buy the filters is that they're $0.50 a piece and a new computer radio that meets my needs 'works' is around $500.

My question after all of that is to see if anyone else has similar experiences, or resolutions to their problems.

Same problem, hoping you've found a solution.
Hi Jon,

I'm beginning FPV with an Easystar and have been troubleshooting this in Forums and at the hobby store with no success. I bought a 900mhz 500mW Vtx with Vrx and FPV480osd Cam from Hobby Wireless. I have a cheap Airtronics RC FHSS-1 setup with Spread Spectrum. The moment I contect my Cam and Vtx to it's seperate battery I get interference flashing on my RC rx. When I walk 30 feet away I lose control of the motor. I tried putting the cam setup on my stock easystart that came with a 72mhz RC and I got similar results except it was my servos twitching out of control. I only got slightly better improvement when I moved the rx from the Vtx by 2 feet which is the max I can do on my plane. I bought a $30 low pass filter and got no improvement. I bought an expensive airtronics rx hoping it had better shielding and got no improvement.

Everything worked perfectly when I flew the plane with the FPV equipment onboard but with the Vtx/cam disconnected from it's battery.

Please, if you've got a fix, let me know. I can send photos or give any additional info if it will help.

Thanks,
Jon
