What to do? Lots of slop Trex 250SE tail...
My tail has lots of slop. What can I do? Is the MicroHeli the only aftermarket tail for the 250? The biggest problem is the SE tail grips which consist of a single radial bearing inside. Isn't there something which can be done?

I've heard that Heim Joint has some kit to make it better, and I have also heard of replacing the grip bearings with some Gaui bearings. Does anyone know anything about this?

Subscribed.
The stock tail on my Trex 250SE has gone completely south.
It is so sloppy I have my gyro gain at 12% to stop the wag.

It recoils 90 degrees after a turn or piro.

Sloppy as heck....

I'm running the stock SE tail with a metal pitch slider. It is all Align parts. The main source of the slop is the way the blade grips are mounted to the center hub. I can flex the tail rotor blades by about 10 degrees each way. No wonder the tail oscillates all the time.

I was thinking of buying the complete MicroHeli Trex 250 tail for $60 from HeliDirect because otherwise this heli is pretty much no fun to fly. The one comment on the HeliDirect site about this tail is that it "does not fit the CF boom". I have a CF boom.

I read that a guy named Heim Joint offers some sort of kit to fix the slop in the tail. I PM's him on HF but have not heard anything back yet.

I just ordered the Titanium Tail from Microheli off ebay for 49.95 and 3.00 shipping.

My stock tail is awful. It is sloppy.
I fly it ok in rate mode but today it got so bad I just gave up and shelved it until I can get the tail straight.

The recoil is what kills me.

I just went through this --AGAIN on my new SE -- I had origianly gone though the same issues with the v1, now witht he SE -- My cure was to order MicroHeli grips and hub with slider. This fixed the V1 incredibly. I was hopeing the had the issue fixed but I guess not. My gainis the same way now I'm at like 18 to get the wag to stop -- even so no more wag but on hard stops it bounces back 45 to 90 degrees :0( Un-nerveing - I have not tested yet but hopefully I will get a chance to today ;0) Oh Im using an Inertia 860 for gyro :0)

My 250SE is not exactly unflyable, but with the tail wagging all over the place it is not all that much fun to fly.

Dizzymarkus, how is the MicroHeli bellcrank you listed any different from the metal Align bellcrank?

Justin -- just posting what I did to stop the stupid tennis raquet effect. lol

But looking a tthem both -- the Micro Heli onehas an extra support:

Align bell crank:

Micro Heli:

prolly nothing performance wise

Markus

PS -- mine is FAR from unflyable and I am until lastnight I put the MH grips on and slider -- will find out if I can rasie my gain later on today I hope.

Markus, I think both of the pictures you posted are of MicroHeli bellcranks. The metal Align bellcrank I have is black and does not have a plastic insert.Avant RC

Yeah you maty be correct -- google search and a quick click lol

the issues remain with the grips and hub not the slider so shouldnt be a large issue :0)

Thanks ,

The Align plastic bell crank on mine bends and flexes.
If yo hold the servo push pull rod still and turn the slop in the tail blades, you can see that some of the slop is the bell crank bending.
So the one with extra support would take out alot.

I also got the tail gear with the dual arms that connect to the slider on top as well as the bottom to prevent even more slop.

Hey dizzymarcus, you say the microheli stuff fixed the V1?
Are you able to get your gain up in the HH values?

I got the whole thing on eBay for the same price as the grips, slider and bell crank.
Besides,my head is all silver.Tail should match

I bought that dual arm pitch slider once, but the problem was the hole in it was too small for the tail shaft. Did yours work correctly?Avant RC

I threw the dual arm out , it never moved freely even on the MH tail case.

No I didnt get my gain up any more(2 points I think) -- but whats the point of that if it holds -- the issue is the bounce back or tennis raquet effect and general slop int he stock tail grips and hub in which i got ride of it FOR ME ;0)

I just want to stop the recoil.
I can't even do a decent stall turn.
It bounces back 90 degrees and comes off sideways.
I have to maintain pressure on the tail throughout the turn.

I hear ya man -- I had a V1 that I had finaly flying perfect -- got an Se and sold the V1 -- DUH hehehe should have just put the SE head on the V1 frame ---- live and learn i guess so i beagn chasing the same tail issues I had before this time with the SE -- again swapping out the tail grips, hub and slider for MH stuff and again it got ride of 98% of all tennis raqueting or bouncing back -- i also noticed i raised my rudder endpoints to 105% and help even more ;0)

Dunno why dont ask why it just worked -- again FOR ME and am only trying to share what I did. Wish I could tell you that dual arm and slider will work -- hell you could have had this one if I can find it ;0)

I thought that Align had this crap fixed last year.

This is what I did. I machined a new pitch slider that actually fit the hole in the Bellcrank and it is slop free.
