Align 90 muffler on TREX700LE + 91H ALIGN ENGINE.
Hi,

I've just got my new trex700le I finshed runing the 91h engine but encounter problem...the engine is getting hot and the rpm drops rapidly at 2-2.5 when main needle open...closing he neddle - the engine gets more hot then before!!!

I cleand the engine, replaced all silicone tubes, programmed the goverenr again but none of this helped (I use cool power fuel)....
finally I decided try using MP5 from my friend trex ....and It solve the problem, now ....at 1.75-1.8 turns of main needles the engine seems to works fine.I'm still checking it ....it a little bit hot...

I hope the align muffler didn't damage the engine!!!
I'v send mail to my dealer in order to replace the muffler first to MP6 ....hopping the engine will be fine.

Now I'M GROUNDED waiting for his answer.

Did anyone encounterd somthing similar ?

MOtti.

If its a little too hot then set her richer !!

90 put alot alot of smoke dont go thinking its rich by looking at the smoke , thats just the oil getting burnt.

Set her nice and rich for a nice fat sound .

The Align pipe has less back pressure from the exhaust system to fuel tank so needs to be set richer.

But double check the nipple on the exhaust is not blocked with thread lock as this is comman.

Retorque the head bolts also on that engine also as they always come loose , I thread lock them also , that will cause your engine over heating .

If you use high strength loctite it does in fact help , yes it breaks down under the heat but it still gives a little resistence and helps it from backing out so easily under vibration .

Let me help you guys.
The MP5 was mine and I so the problem with the engine.
When the engine was runing with the the Align muffler, it was set with 2.5 turns open of the main needle, the temp was fine but the engine had poor power.

We tried even to change fuel but it did not help. only changing the muffler did the job. it looked like the Align muffler is bad.

Oh yes, and the nipple is open just fine.

I belive it is something with the muffler internal parts.

If your running Cool power 30%??? Try shimming the head..012 is what I run CP 30 and it opens the range of the needles up nicely. No more fine line between lean and rich.RIP Roman

I'm having the same problem with that combo. This is my first 90 so I thought I just didn't know what I was doing. I'm at 2.5 turns on the High as well and at 214 on the temp. So you guys think there is something wrong with my Align Pipe?---

what we did was to replace all fuel lines (also in the header tank), clean the new fuel filter, cleaning the carb, trying other fuel, checking the rear bearing . . . . . eventualy, we changed the muffler and the engine worked as it should.

If your fuel lines are OK, then I suggest trying to replace your muffler with one of your friends heli just to be sure.

Good Luck

MP6
Stay with the MP6, I have two Align .91 with the blue heads and they both run great without issues even with 15% using the MP6. My needles are set as per instruction manual. Sounds like it was a problem with the pipe to me?
