Rave 3g maiden, fricken awesome!
Due to the huge amount of bad press the poor 3g is getting I took it out of my new 700 kit and put it on my rave for testing. I am very experienced at flybarless, having several v-bars and a sk360. The setup was easy and I am using a gaui head. I strapped the sensor down tighter than normal and put thin tape on it after reading other peoples results here.

I went to take off and was scared that this thing was going to turn into a ball of flames while driving itself violently into the ground. It pulled up into a nice smooth hover, no drift and no trim needed. Flew it around, added more headspead, added more aileron. Changed battery and gave it the beatdown. It flew brilliantly, tracked well, no bobbles, and made hard stops with ease. The tail does wag a bit from time to time but holds well in all moves. In constant piro the heli does drift a bit.

Having flown vbarred 450, 500, and 600's I can say this flys just as good. It actually flys better than my 450 mini vbar due to some weird overrotating issue on it. I am happy with my 3g in my rave and would have to problem trying it on a bigger bird. Can't wait for v2 as hopefully it only gets better!

It may come down to economics, but I have to ask why you didn't use the Rave FBL head?╘ₒ₲ₒ 6°° ƺƉ ṾЪ∂®

Pots are stock, looks straight up and down on both

Total g looks awesome, I've seen the prototype fly in a Rave and it is good.

gaui head was bought when they first came out its all I had laying around.

I took this out to a bigger field this afternoon and hammered on it some more, I've never seen something climb straight up so fast, it really is an animal. I will try and get my buddy to video it.

Brian,

It’s good to hear some positive prospective. I feel the same as you although I did install it in my 90. Put it in a MA Stratus with a RJX head. Listened to some of the posts and made sure all the power leads went from my rx strait to the servos. Another thing I am reading a lot about is the brownouts. This may be caused by not resetting the tx after cycling the power on the rx. If you cycle power on the rx with out resetting the power on the tx, all the lights on the rx will blink. (Spektrum system) I am sure this is what caused a brownout for one of my friends. He was running V-bar. Just like you I was totally impressed with the increased performance. Flipped and climbed so fast I though for sure something was going to break. I still have a little bit of drift that I am sure is being caused by vibrations though.

The 3g does fly good, but out of nowhere with no warning, bam, you're heading for the dirt! I think the G stands for Gremlins! Haha!Team Sanjel!

Fricken Awesome
Got rid of the drift and have the heli almost perfect. This thing is awesome! I used some zeal tape, anti-vibration plate and thin layer of gyro tape on the sensor and Velcro’d it down tight. The high ratio stratus is very fast but this 3g makes my old stratus insanely fast and flying like its on rails. Absolutely love it!....

i use 3g on my rave 450 either it flies great. flies better on my rave compare to my trex 450pro with 3g.

here some some test flight vids i made. wind is around 18-21kmph, it can hold well without a flybar.
