another 1 bites the dust

it really is a shame to see a heli line that flys so amazing getting shot down by poor or maybe mishandled marketing/distributing

what is going on with compass and distributors?????????

I think Compass is pulling the strings and WestonUK got the new distribution, but WestonUK is not distributing, so they get to keep ALL the profit.

My family own a VERY large model shop in the south of England. They bring in RC cars from Europe. They cost £100 to bring in, sell for £200 to shops, retail for £300. That way the shop makes £100 on each sale, but our shop (the importer) makes £200 per kit if they sell direct to the customer.

WestonUK are doing exactly this. They are not distributing to shops and thus keep ALL the profit for themselfs. I rang fastLad the other day (they used to sell Compass) to buy parts. I was told it is only WestonUK now selling Compass.

So I think getting parts is no problem in the UK as long as you go to WestonUK all the time.

And there in lays the problem! You employ a distributor that knows nothing about the product and is only interested in the profit. Who suffers? Us the customer we get poor support and with no competion we pay through the nose. Every business needs to make a proffit or they won't be there, but this is a joke who ever put this stratergy together of having an importer who wants to be the only retailer wants there bumps felt!!

Who suffers? Us the customer
I'm not so sure about that?

Yes, we find it a little hard sometimes to get bits and we may get frustrated. But I think, ultimately Compass suffers.

Compass sell helicopters, if we stop buying Compass because we get frustrated with them, Compass heli division goes BUST !! We on the other hand simply buy another brand. We keep flying (and spending), they sweep the streets for a living.

I love Compass heli's, always have!
I hate the way Compass do business, always have!

I'm just going to keep flying their models until they go out of business or I can't get parts. Then I'll just go to another brand, it's that simple.

The worlds a big place, look at Mikado only 2 dealers and sometimes hard to get parts for those. I eventually gave that brand up when they hiked 30% on the price. Compass globally and in Eastern parts prob does really well and they are great value for money.

I will buy and fly this brand and accept I may have to wait and order from overseas. Would I have this as my only model, No.

I must say Weston have always been helpful. It's price we are quibbling about.

With regard the Compass line, I've only bought the 3D+ from WestonUK. I also found WestonUK very good, even after the courier cocked up my delivery. WestonUK sorted a Saturday delivery at no extra charge to keep me happy!

As for price, I paid £350 delivered for my 3D+. I think that's a very good price for such a high performance/quality model. Most other 3D type heli's seem to be £400-£500 in the UK right now.

I've bought Compass heli's from all the UK suppliers to date going right back to the first batch of 'Pro's' from Skyline.

WestonUK have been OK with me so far (one kit)

"I am sorry but you forgot in this statement to mention that Climb Out has taken over the ElyQ distributorship for UK and some other countries. I am not willing to start to explain all of the business decisions, but it has for sure nothing to do with a suggested problem on one of the helicopters.
And by the way you forgot as well to advise Compass Model about these major changes and which created a huge conflict of interests. And yes Weston UK told me that they stay in business thats all we have to say about theUK business."

So your saying Climb Out dumpped Compass and left Compass needing to find a new UK distributor?

You see, this is why customers start talking and get nervous, lack of information.

As long as WestonUK keep the parts, I'm a happy flyer

Its actually quite clever really.

You take on a distributor who builds up a network of retailers and end users. The distributor keeps and builds up a stock of kits and parts, which by judging the posts would have been bought and paid for. The manufacturer then finds a reason to dump the distributor leaving the distributor with stock, again read the post ade999 whom I assume was a distributor states they he has been trying to resolve the stock issue, a point not denied by the manufacturers post.

The manufacturer then takes on a new distributor who purchases a fresh consignment of kits and stock.

The only party making on this is Compass, personally I wouldnt go anywhere near a product like that.

That's the REAL pity in all these troubles (always has been).

Compass build a GREAT product. You may dislike the Company, but the product stands tall against the competition on quality and flyability (if that's a word?)

I think we should turn off to the running of their business, and just focus on the model. When parts get hard to find, then think about jumping ship.

Just my thoughts on a great product.
