Why i will NEVER buy from rc universe again.
Flakes and liars thats why.

Two crap deals in a row. bought one plane for $1600, get it and its complete garbage, completely trashed, was supposed to be RTF but I took it to the field and everyone just shook their head at whoever would've thought it was ready to fly.

Next deal, paid right away, told will ship in the next few days. Doesn't end up going out for a week and a half. Thing takes over a month to get to me, I told him I didn't want it and to refund my money, he says no problem, he'll refund when he gets it back. Against my better judgement, I send it back and they need a phone number for him.

I email him for his number and also let him know and let him know how much i didn't appreciate having to wait for payment after all I paid him first out of trust, I feel he should refunded me. I shouldn't have even resent him the plane until he refunded me.

Now, He tells me he's not going to refund me, so now i have to call the shipping co. and have them resend it back to me which I so hope they'll do.

So both deals a fiasco, both sellers complete morons and liars, what can I say, rc universe sucks in my opinion, and i have over $2k blown of nothing and junk to say that.

I cant understand why you would spend $1600 on soomething from an unknown guy on any forum on the net.I'd never risk a large amount of money buying something on the net from a forum user, unless maybe I personally know the guy.
It also pays to check the sellers feedback, post count and whatever you can to be sure your dealing with an honest guy.I feel bad you got ripped off but at the same time I feel you werent using good judgement by plopping down a large amount of dough like you did.

It is like I always say if I cant touch it see it and look it over I will not buy it. Sorry I feel you only have yourself to blame for the troubles. This day and age there are a lot of scammers out there and they do not hesitate to scam someone. As stated above you need to research the person but also as I said it you cant inspect it I wouldnt buy it.

All of this can be avoided by going by a few simple guidelines...

1st: check references, if anything stands out, it hits the NO GO switch

2nd: Big purchases, talk to the cat on the phone, get all of his personal info, if something hits the NO GO switch, dump him/her

3rd: Get lots of photos, I over document things and have never had complaints, look at my current add that on right now....never had a not happy person.

4th: Pay with American Express (if it aint a trade), if the seller goes wonky when crap goes bad, Do a charge back on him and once the chargeback is complete (and only then) ship the junk back to him on his dime (Fed Ex and DHL have this option to bill shipping to the recipient) that way he cant say "you stole his perfect whatever it was".

I've bought ALOT of stuff online used (read upwards of $30K plus)....alot of it HIGH priced stuff, 2-3K in one hit, never laid a hand on it before it got to my door. I only had two guys flake on me (in 10 years) on not as described stuff...they got the chargeback, Am Ex chased after them for their money back and gave me all my money back including shipping. The seller got their junk back COD. Using these methods I can honestly say I've never been screwed in the end...

There are smart ways to do business on the internet, this is what I've found works for me and many others.

Been very lucky
On here all my transactions have been top notch. Always do my homework to the point of reading the persons other post just to gauge his technical level and also personality.

As for RC Universe I have one thing that has kept me out of all trouble and I have bought and sold a few high dollar planes... Here is my secret...

"Local pickup ONLY!!!"
Sadly Sponsored by: VISA, MASTERCARD, and Bank of America

I feel for you.

I'm not sure I would ever buy a plane sight unseen.

Helis are plastic, carbon and metal. If things are bad, there's missing parts, bad bearings, etc., you can always replace to make it like new.

With a plane, you have no idea what's under that covering. Is the wood soaked, fiberglass repaired, etc., and if your spending that much cash on a plane, it would be best to see it first.

I've been at the field and seen some guys stuff, "there baby", which is struggling for its dear life, and they tell you its the best plane ever. The plane guys get an emotional attachment, and unless your a repair expert (I've know a few of them picking planes out of the garbage), it's not worth it.

Heli guys are obsessive about having the latest / greatest.

Plane guys pride themselves by keeping that s148 they bought in 1981 running with old gum from the bottom of the flight table and some fuel-soaked hobbico rubber bands.

Just to answer some of you. For the big purchase I did my research as extensively I could. The plane is discontinued and very hard to find, so it wasn't like my options where hugely open to get it.

I checked his feedback, was very good. I talked to him on the phone and he reassured me everything was good and what was done to it(of course they sounded better than they looked! I had photos of the plane, but like has been said hard to see under the paint work and photos taken in such a way to disguise stuff.

I like the idea of the American Express card. I used paypal and even gifted it to them to be nice and save them the fees, which of course completely screwed me. Never again from that place, never again. Heli sales always a breeze, everyone is good and right. All the plane guys I've dealt with has always been a hassle, cheap skates and just rickety stuff.

Now dont go dumping all plane guys in with a few bad ones. I have delt in person with a lot of jerks selling helis stuff as I have with plane guys. Not all people are bad or crooks. Also dont matter if the item is discontinued or not I would not buy anything online or from a forum site without being able to inspect it before I spend my money.
It is also not rcu's fault you got ripped off just like it isnt RR's fault if someone gets ripped off. This day and age there are a lot of "normally honest" people screwing others over its sad its wrong but you cant do a thing about it except warn otehrs of the person so they dont get screwed.
As I said I would never spend that kind of money without seeing it first in person.

Don't go putting words in my mouth now, Who said I dumped all of the plane guys? I said all of the deals 'I have done with plane guys' have gone sour.

God help these loosers. I don't know how people sleep when they do this. I go out of my way to make sure what ever I sell is what I say. My word is every thing and I will bend over backword to make a deal in happiness for all parties. I have been ripped off, cheated of my hard erned money by fellow MODLERS.
