Competition first flight
well after a long winter and a bit of fiddling around I *finally* got my first full tank through my Vision Competition! I wrote a bit about my build here - to recap I made the pinion mesh tight, very tight. Relined the clutch bell and really paid attention to the engine and clutch alignment, spinning the assembly as I slowly tightened down the engine and clutch bearing block down.

Well so far it's paid off. After a full tank the main gear mesh is pretty dang reasonable though a little (not much) tight. The starter shaft is barely moving while the engine is running. it all feels very smooth idling when I'm carrying it.

My first flight was actually Sunday but it lasted just a couple of minutes as the main needle fell out of my carb - engine is a couple years old TT-53 and ran great last year but the O-ring must have shrunk, original V1 carb. anyhow replacement needle valve, got it running pretty well. I have a strange issue where it appears to be going lean when I flip it inverted, not sure what I'm going to about that yet. Perhaps too high of compression for the RR 30% fuel. May try a lower Nitro fuel, I don't know what shims I have in there and don't want to pull the engine to find out.

Also interestingly enough the cyclic felt slow I'll have to look closer at my radio setup, I may have reduced the swash mix values too much, definitely had too much expo. reduced it from 25% to 15% and that helped. Running ~2050 headspeed with a TJ Pro. KBDD paddles and tail blades look great, held the tail great. SAB RedDevil's on the mains. Nice looking in the air even without the lid on

Also, I did an auto and the drive train did quite well, much better than my Ultimate. This one-way setup is the way to go. Can't wait to try it with a tube driven tail!

yes I did - I put a Raptor plate on, used some Trex-700 frame screws and some washers/spacers from main blade grips. Not super pretty but VERY solid and didn't cost me a dime.
