Safe maximum headspeed for 400, 500, 600 and 700 size electric helis
How do you determine the safe maximum head speed for the above size electrics with woodies and then with CFs ? I'm generalizing here because I know there are variables that will intervene with each size heli in addition to pitch and mild vs wild 3D.

Thanks,
Don

My blades (710mm) always comes with a little caution note stating the maximum safe speed.
For my CF 710mm blades I always stay below 1800 rpm.
Maybe to sluggish for 3D.
I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

^^ ^^, check your heli manual, and any directions that come with the blades. Also depends on what kind of flying you are doing, but I highly recommend you stay away from woodies on anything bigger that a 400size(450). From what I have seen on the bigger ones, they are a pain to balance and can also be dangerous.
A friend at the local field had a Woodie break off near the grip last year on his 50size nitro and it could have killed someone....(poor heli died)
A good set of CF is the way to go, and they normally tell ya how fast you can run them. Most reputable CF blades are made to run at the headspeed of the helis that are out now, so its good to check the blade, but for the most part I go by the helis capabilities on the head.
In most cases saving a few bucks on a critical part such as the blades can be expensive in the long run

I run right around..... 5200rpm on my 250, 3500rpm 450, 2700rpm on 500, down to 2000rpm on my 600
