That all depends on how you fly. If you are just sport flying the stock configuration is good. If you fly hard get a metal head block. If you are into 3D then you might want some other upgrades.

Best upgrade for the money is a Titan SE head.

If you really like lots of power then get a Castle Creations ESC, 8s LiPo, and Scorpion motor. Turnigy is the best LiPo for the money.

If you want the best then go flybarless. It just depends on how you fly and how much you want to spend.

The manual for the 550/620 isnt as bad as some but still takes some care to follow.

There are a series of build videos in the link below that help a lot.

Forgot one thing... lots of guys recommend changing the aluminum tail rotor hub (PV0151) to the Stainless version (PV0499).

Apparently there were some failures early on. Don't know if the newer ones were improved or not but the SS version is cheap insurance.

I just mainly sport fly and lots of hover practice. I enjoyed flying my e325 and my current Raptor 30 with a metal head, I thought I would like the e550.

Thanks for the tips, any other advice is greatly appreciated.

Thought about installing the e620 boom.

Thats what I did - 620 boom - after my last up-grade opportunity Im now running 600mm blades.

Amp draw in hover only went up an amp or so. It feels a small but noticeable amount "lighter" in the air. Its also a tad more stable in hover.

Id recommend the change.

The stock setup should be perfect for you. Don’t spend any extra money on upgrades until you fly it. That way you will have a better idea if you want to upgrade anything. That might save you money on unnecessary upgrades.
