Remvoing Circlips/C clips
Does anybody know of any good methods for removing circlips/c clips?

I have searched a few RC model websites looking for a removal tool with no luck.

Any ideas are much appreciated.

Thanks

I got mine from Home Depot. Removes both inside and outside and has changeable tips for different sizes.I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

I purchased a set of circlip removal tools from an auto store about a month ago however they are too big and bulky to remove the small circlips on my rc models.

I'm trying to remove the circlip found under the clutch bell which holds the bell and starter shaft together.

I have tried needle nose pliers but they keep slipping. Running out of ideas now.

Does anyone know if there are any circlip removal tools made specially for rc models or for small circlips?

Those clips are usually referred to as E clips. The pliers referred to are for use on circlips, as found on the main-shaft one-way bearing.

The little E clip gadget recently discussed would not do either as it would not fit inside the bell.

If you have the shaft on the bench, it's a simple matter to press the open ends of the E clip onto a hard surface. This provides clearance under the other side of the clip to insert a small screwdriver. You could also pull it off with some quality pliers, once released as above. The E clip gadget should also work well.

If you need to get the clip off whilst inside the bell, the only thing I've found to work is a small (tiny!) pair of smooth taper nosed pliers, applied vertically and use the end of the shaft as a fulcrum.

You can remove them without the tool, but it's a pain in the rear. Go to the autoparts store like these guys recommended.Team Sanjel!

These have worked for the smallest clips, both inside and outside. With various tips and lengths. Will do inside or outside. Made by channellock.

I use a C clip tool from Laser, works really well, it's more in technique than the tool you're using. If you can try to push it onto the shaft to start it (always from the end of the shaft not the sides) then open it up and push it on the shaft.

Nice link , if you were asking about 'E' clips , but fairly useless for circlips .
