The hurt locker
Bought the DVD,what did you guys think of the film?According to Wilkepedia most critics loved it but the Vets they interviewed panned it saying for the most part it was a fantasy "a hollywood war film".i watched the film but cant say it made me want to see it again anytime soon.

I rented it a few weeks ago. It was OK. Worth watching but not worth buying. Seeing it once was enough for me. It was actually a little better that I thought it would be. But to me, just OK.

I think it is called hurt locker because it hurt to watch. Hollywood should use advisers on films like this. Even from the stand point it is not suppose to be a documentary its entertainment value was zero. All I can say is the Army EOD must operate completely different from the Navy’s or this film is full of BS and that’s all the time I am going to waste talking about this movie.

I think we all can admit that it's a RARE war movie that is even close to reality.
Hey, there's an idea. Everybody post what they think is a realistic war movie.

I'll go first

1.) Saving Private Ryan

+1
on Ryan,as a series Band of brothers takes a lot of beating, the interviews with the vets made it a must see,the only time my wife watched a war story one after another(box set)and was glued to the screen.

The Hurt Locker had a few cool scenes, but as a movie it pretty much sucked. There wasn't a purpose to it. Just a lot of the same thing over an over again, and got boring after about 45 minutes. If you saw the trailer, you saw the best part of the movie. Don't even bother renting this movie.. Its not worth it.

Last time i buy a film on critical acclaim
After all i suppose,a critic is only a person with his/her own opinion, was under the impression it was a must see.apparently it is the most critically acclaimed film ever that bombed big time in the cinema.

BOB was my other choice, just leaving it for someone else to post. I bought the box set. I'm purposely NOT watching the new one about the Pacific until it comes out on box set so I can watch it all back to back. Waiting a week to see the next installment is just torture.

It was a good movie ruined by the un-realistic approach to the bomb disposal scenes. As if you'd stand and pull up shells by their detonating wires... Had they made the de-fusing scenes more tense and less full of bravado bullsh.t it would have been muchy better. Good scene was with the .50 cal sniper rifle, that was pretty realistic!

I've heard from guys who have been deployed that EOD does like non of that. They really puffed up EOD in that movie.

Makes you wonder
why they did not ask a few vets who did tours out there to get a much more realistic handle on the conflict.Would have made the film much more respectful of events out there and would probably made it a really outstanding account.

All I got to say is for this movie to be so loved by Critics..
Cathryn Bigalowe must be really good at something else.. to win all those awards for this POS.

This movie made the US Serviceman look like reckless cowboys.

this is not how things are done.

btw BHD was pretty close to what happened on Somalia

not so much. I have a friend that was part of the force that came in to rescue those guys (Marine advance recon). He just laughs when I mention that movie. Lets' face it, a lot of these movies would be pretty boring if they were more realistic. Though yes, that stuff in Somalia was pretty hair raising in real life. That place will be the next locale of us getting involved in stuff that's none of our business (again).

it's a fantasy. Good for the majority though. I don't think it was necessarily made to be an accurate film. It was made to entertain.Stupidity can be cured. Ignorance is for life!
