My WT-643 status - may be fixed!
I read the updates from Peter and Kevin, got a bit motivated to take a look at my Predator tonight. Pulled the carb apart (first time I've opened a Walbro) and look at what I found.

Sure wish I had a rebuild kit handy for this carb but the soft parts came off the metal parts clean so I brushed them up and put them back on. Found a bit of spooge under the diaphram on the pump/needle side also, near the H needle. Perhaps this was the source of my high speed leaning issue - I hope so anyhow.

Wish I could offer more than a RR smiley for help with you guys in GB and Spain - sounds like your gremlins are a bit more insidious

I couldn't quite come to a conclusion either but decided to just brush it off and hope that it won't take a dose of Mucinex to get the heli running healthy. I'm telling myself that it's left over gunk from letting the heli sit for too long, perhaps the clear fuel line I bought at Ace hardware wasn't up to the task? Perhaps I'll purchase another WT-643 just in case.

Does anyone know if/when we need to replace those white teflon gaskets sandwiching our Z-RC intake block? They seem to be sealing pretty well but ???

Unfair

All I found in my carb was one tiny dark speck that covered one of the holes in that little round filter...

My Spectra will be sorted..just needs new clutch, 2 expensive servos and more time and should be good for at least 2 or 3 flights before the next thing falls off.... Oh, and another pull start innards..

...If I'm spending £200 squid again then that ought to go at least 6 flights on current costs...

Great idea Raja, there is a container ship leaving Florida tomorrow takes 8 weeks to get here but very cheap and you get to cook and clean for all the crew...

Problem for me is when you get here if parts are needed then you will have to hang around 2 weeks waiting for them

Peter will pay just to get some flying in the Sun!

Believe it or not 2 weeks ago I looked up the price to ship the spectra to you, Raja...about as much with british postal charges as it's gonna cost in bits..

Kevin and I have gone halves on the 7lb lump hammer.. we'll take turns tuning with that!

I was thinking it looked more like it spent a night in jail

Flew it tonight and MAN what a difference. Now I need to find the happy spot for the needles.

Did get one lean run, not too lean I hope. I measured 300ºF near the exhaust port. I knew it was lean coming in. I had been flying inverted circuits for a couple of minutes and it started sounding lean, landed it. Very high idle, Throttle hold didn't drop it down, smelled lean ect... Not sizzling lean, just lean. Anyhow the primer bulb was completely dry. I also noticed that if I prime it slowly I can work nearly all the air out but if I pump it fast it air will leak around the edge of the bulb. I need to hunt down a new bulb. Could this have contributed to a lean run?

let it sit for a bit and then I opened up the L needle and H needle 1/8 turn and it was smokey rich idling. Flew it about 5 minutes idle-2 horsing it around pretty good, WOT climbs and all, it was just over 200ºF when I landed at the exhaust. It felt rich but not too rich so I'm close.

Happy to have my Predator back in the game

Really wish I could jump across the pond and spend a few weeks in the EU region. Not sure if I could do any good but would be a blast.

Perhaps Raja could arrange for MA to send a container full of spectra parts with him on that ship for the UK suppliers they would benefit because pgk would use most of them in a few weeks.
